The department, team and job
As part of the Analysis department, the Fundamental Analysis team delivers models and analyses on commodity markets, deals and assets. We provide model-based forecasts of power prices and analysis of price drivers to support decision making in the traded market horizon and beyond. Our analysis is based on fundamental power forecasting models covering our core markets on the continent and in the Nordics. As we are continuously developing our in-house and acquired fundamental power models, we are looking for an eager candidate to contribute in an agile fashion. This position will primarily focus on the development and use of the in-house Nordic short-term fundamental model but will also be in contact with the continental and mid- & long-term models.
The position is located in Stockholm as part of an international team of highly professional, skilled analysts, located in Hamburg and Stockholm.
What you will do
MODELS: Development of our in-house short-term fundamental power price model
Constantly strive to improve the model performance, benchmarked against external providers
Improve model architecture to make more efficient use of the cloud infrastructure, and optimize code and data integration
Adapt our model to the constantly changing electricity markets

ANALYSIS: Use the model to make daily runs to maximize our portfolio value
Join our shift customers (part-time) to run the model to predict Nordic power prices, day-ahead to two weeks ahead
Support decision taking for our Nordic customer and asset positions going into delivery, to maximize our portfolio value
Provide feedback to the model developers on what developments would provide the most value going forward
Enable our trading colleagues to run ad-hoc analyses for potential trading strategies



Qualifications
High computer literacy, in particular programming skills in Python. Experience collaborating using git and DevOps is appreciated. Preferably some experience with cloud (Azure) computing and databases
An understanding of the Nordic power markets is important. Knowledge of the Central and Western European CWE power, carbon and fuels markets is a plus
Experience in developing fundamental power models is very beneficial
Expertise in quantitative methods, power modelling, and/or mathematical optimization, especially using Gurobi is beneficial
Academic degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or similar
Strong communication skills and the willingness to collaborate closely with team members, customers and other stakeholders
Fluency in English required, and at least some Swedish understanding is necessary
Willingness to travel occasionally
Willingness to work 30% in a weekday-daytime (7:30-16:00h) shift.
