DESCRIPTION: Middle School Music Teacher
REPORTS TO: Principal, Vice Principal, Subject Area Coordinator
Starting August 7, 2020


Duties/Responsibilities
The Music Teacher is responsible and qualified to:
Preparing and delivering quality creative activities within a safe and caring environment.
To provide comprehensive lesson and unit planning based on the IMYC and Grade 9 IB Preparatory Curriculum.
Teach knowledge, skills, and the fundamental principles of music and musicianship skills, such as music theory and basic notation.
Evaluate each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understanding to be reflected in progress reports and end of term reports
To ensure musical instruments and sound equipment are stored safely and safety procedures and fire drill/evacuation procedures are followed. 
Facilitating good communication with all members of the organisation, parents and students
Assist individual students needing extra attention.
Be an active and contributing member of the Middle School Faculty.
Actively contribute to the operational needs of the school. 
Proven experience of improving, and having a positive impact on, children's learning in the primary age range  
 A creative and enthusiastic approach both in and out of the classroom  
The ability to share outstanding practice and willingness to develop other colleagues



Qualifications, Attributes and Experience 
Certified teaching credentials and experience teaching Music 
Proficiency in English.
Experience working and establishing rapport with students or groups.
Experience in leadership and organisational roles. 
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to be a good team player with a good understanding of how teamwork contributes to school improvement.  





Experience working with students from diverse cultures and countries would be an advantage.
