REPORTS TO: Principal, Vice Principal, Subject Area Coordinator
Starting October 15, 2020
Contract: Temporary, full-time

To provide excellent education for middle school students in Grade 6 - 9 Art
.
Duties/Responsibilities
The Art Teacher is responsible for the following:
Preparing and delivering quality creative activities within a safe and caring environment.
To provide comprehensive lesson and unit planning based on the IMYC.
Teach knowledge and Skills in art, including use of appropriate materials, techniques, design, aesthetics and history.
Evaluate each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understanding to be reflected in progress reports and end of term reports
To ensure equipment and art supplies are safe and safety procedures and fire drill/evacuation procedures are followed.
Facilitating good communication with all members of the organisation, parents and students
To set up and put away all art supplies at the end of the sessions.
To undertake any other reasonable duties within the competence of the post holder required to ensure the smooth running of the session.
Assist individual students needing extra attention.
Be an active and contributing member of the Middle School Faculty.
Actively contribute to the operational needs of the school.
Break duties as per contract position
To order, inventory, and organize Art resources
Qualifications, Attributes and Experience
The Art Teacher is expected to have:
Experience as an Art teacher and working with/mentoring Middle School students
Educational background in Art related field
Teaching Certification and/or qualifications
Excellent communications skills and ability to work effectively in a team
The ability to establish rapport with adults and students
The ability to function effectively under pressure
The ability to show initiative and work independently
Experience working with students from diverse cultures and countries would be an advantage.
