Emerging Technologies is responsible for Volvo CE’s long-term success. We are a small, agile, and motivated team of 22 colleagues located in Sweden, Korea and Germany. Shaping our future together with academia, partners and customers we developed new solution like the electric site which has been one important puzzle piece to the founding of Volvo Autonomous solutions. You have a master’s degree or PHD in electrical engineering or similar. You bring experience in theory and practice. You want to be out in the field, investigate opportunities and implement on customer sites as well as doing theoretical studies and optimization of energy distribution systems and infrastructure. You can work with highly abstract tasks translating them to your domain. You can organize your work independently and therefor can cope with a high degree of freedom. You have a positive attitude towards the future and can’t wait to invent it!

In this role, you will get to work on finding energy distribution solutions for our customers. Creating fast prototypes to showcase functionalities of new machines and systems together with customers, leading and supporting explorative initiatives in this domain, guarantee smooth transfer to market introduction, close collaboration with the research programs, creating an academia network in this area, supervising student- and thesis workers, and keep connected to Volvo Group efforts.
Who Are You?
You may have a master’s degree or PHD in electrical engineering or similar along with profound knowledge of energy system analysis - you would also have experience in implementing your simulation results into real demonstrators.
Knowledge of renewable energy supply and strive to integrate that into our solutions.
You have a basic understanding of construction and/or raw material extraction
You have a positive (Can Do) attitude and are also fluent in English (verbally and written)
Good To Have
Basic Swedish communications skills are considered as an asset
You are great at working in a cross-functional and global environment, and love to evaluate new concepts.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
You will plan and develop site energy distribution and infrastructure solutions
Creating prototypes from scratch to successfully demonstration with customers
Plan and commission charging/re-fueling and local energy distribution solutions to balance the power demand
Striving for the best integration of renewables into our industry
Leading and supporting explorative initiatives in this domain
Guarantee smooth transfer to market introduction
Close collaboration with the research programs
Creating an academia network in this area
Supervising student- and thesis workers
Keep connected to Volvo Group efforts
Required competencies, personal skills, and experience
Master’s degree or higher in electrical engineering or similar
You are familiar with energy distribution solutions
Solid foundation in energy system simulation (e.g., Matlab)
Experience in practical working on energy infrastructure systems, (e.g., electrical infrastructure)
Analytic skills for bug fixing
Fluent in English (verbally and written)
Basic Swedish communication skills (is an asset)
Ability to work in a cross-functional and global environment
Willingness to travel
Positive attitude (“let’s do it” mentality)
