POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Gameplay Software Engineer on The Sims, your job will be to work on the new gameplay features, systems and UI for the Sims 4 in close collaboration with the Design team. You will build unique content for a game that supports a large demographic of simulation player patterns. Most of the work is expected to be done in Python.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Extend existing and develop new data-driven gameplay and UI systems by writing performance-efficient Python and Action Script 3 code embedded into the context of existing architecture.
Create new Sim behaviors within a real-life simulation game in collaboration with the Design team: interaction with the world, other Sims, and objects; socialization, careers, scenarios, etc.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Proven ability to read and understand the legacy code.
1+ years experience in a hands-on gameplay or UI development role.
Confident technical abilities with coding in C++ or Python.
Code debugging skills.
ANYTHING FROM BELOW WILL BE A PLUS
Code optimization skills.
Experience with game animation and navigation systems.
Experience working in large data-driven games or applications.
Experience developing for large-scale live products.
Experience using static and performance analysis tools, automated testing, unit testing, and configuration management processes.
Knowledge of UI technologies such as Scaleform, ActionScript 3, HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
