Gameplay Programmer

Gameplay Programmer

Arbetsbeskrivning

Would you like to break new ground and contribute to a fresh project without the burdens of old legacy code? (We only have new legacy code!)

As a Gameplay programmer you’ll be joining our most ambitious project yet - Toca Days, a friendly multiplayer world for children celebrating the excitement and quirkiness of everyday life. A 3D world where kids will be able to play and explore in real time through their own avatar.

Since we’re breaking new ground there isn’t much pre-determined “this is how we do it” and you’ll be helping to lay that out. We are trying so many new, cool things on this project - building a multiplayer game from scratch, creating a realtime 3D playground with player avatars and world building. You will join during our early access/soft launch period where we gather as much input as possible from our users, the kids.

What you’ll be doing
You’ll work within a small feature team consisting of play designers, artists and other gameplay developers to create fun gameplay systems around everyday activities that feel good to play and interact with.

You’ll create features in such a way that artists and designers can easily create more content and tweak the look and feel as needed.

You’ll be working on a variety of features in order to get Toca Days ready for launch. You’ll work on things such as:

-
Developing UI interactions and UI-heavy game features

-
Building brand new game features, locations and ways to play

-
Creating tools for our developers

-
Optimisation work

-
Monetisation features

Exactly what of the above you’ll work on is up to you and your skills and experience.

Is this you?
You are an experienced developer who has shipped a few games already. You have previous experience working with bigger projects, in teams of 5-10 people.

You’re used to working with Unity and C# and have a great sense of what makes gameplay feel good for the end user. In our case the end users are kids, 7 to 14 year olds.

You believe in the power of play.

This is us!
Toca Boca captures the spirit of play. We create digital toys and everyday products that are filled with fun and silliness that kids from any corner of the world can instantly relate to. Everything is designed from their perspective. We celebrate the diversity and quirkiness of their world and give them the freedom to play in ways that only they can dream up.

Good to know!
This position is full time and based in our Stockholm office. We apply 6 months of probationary employment. As we’re an international company, with over 10 nationalities and millions of users all over the world, you have to be fluent in English. Your application should therefore be in English.
