Geometrical Architect

Cab Technology is a department within Vehicle Engineering. Responsible for developing key systems e.g Cab body, climate, seat structure to all truck brands within the Volvo Group. Cab Technology is responsible for leading the work with strategies and advanced engineering for Cab engineering globally. We are located at Gothenburg, Greensboro, Lyon and Bangalore.  


Cab Technology develops strategies and knowledge (advanced engineering) to offer the most competitive cabs. We also understand the final customer needs and apply our knowledge to develop technical concepts and solutions that satisfy customer and business needs. The work is based on innovation, shared technology, common architecture and brand uniqueness.


We are now looking for a Geometrical Architect for performing and leading studies for common architecture and shared technology within the Cab area (Technology & Vehicle). The work is mainly focused on early phases, from advanced engineering to detailed development covering all truck brands within Volvo Group. As a Geometrical Architect within Cab Platform, you will lead global platform solutions and work with a global network to define common interfaces and common architectural solutions. You will also lead architects globally and develop knowledge jointly with other architects. You will be an important member in the team and report to the Global Cab Platform Manager.
 
Main Responsibilities:
 
Lead global cab platform projects from an architectural point
Lead advanced architectural engineering projects
Represent Volvo GTT in research projects
Balance requirements
Lead knowledge management within architecture
Contribute in harmonization and development of processes, methods, tools and standards globally
 
Competences:
 
CATIA and Creo
KOLA
Trucks knowledge
At least a few years’ experience as a design engineer
Experience of leading investigations, tasks, teams or similar
Basic knowledge in manufacturing
Fluent in English
Social and networking abilities in a global and multi-cultural environment
Goal oriented

As our preferred candidate, you have a MSc in Engineering with experience of x-functional development within the automotive industry.You should have extensive technology knowledge within Cab systems and good ability to handle complex balancing of contradictory engineering and customer requirements.
You need to have a positive mind-set and enjoy solving problems in teams and speak and write English fluently.
