Belonging in the organization


Our team, Product Documentation and Geometrical Architecture is a part of VBC Global Product Development. Our responsibility is split between different areas as Geometrical Architecture on complete chassis/vehicle level, PDM system/process (Product Data Management), CAD support & VPDM System/Process (Virtual Product Data Management) and Engineering support (Drawings and Standards) .


Besides our daily work contributing in projects and supporting others, we are all highly engaged in driving improvement work within processes, methods and tools and are also active in many networks and forums within Volvo bus as well as within Volvo Group.


Position Description


As a Geometrical Architect Leader, YOU will take the lead for the cross-functional geometrical work in close cooperation with our Product Architects, Product Owners and Engineers from different parts of the organizations. Our target is to, TOGHETHER, develop the best customer solutions and your involvement is needed from pre-study up to the final design. Your colleagues will rely on you when it comes to gathering colleagues from around the world to discuss and solve geometrical issues so that we, in the end, can deliver a product that can be efficiently produced, maintained and meet our customers' expectations.


When not managing packaging meetings, you will be engaged in setting up geometrical requirements and boundaries, support others within the DMU area (design context, restrictions etc), producing virtual builds and performing various packaging studies. Other areas within your responsibility will be to keep track of the product weight and of cause to contribute to improving our process, methods and tools so we can perform even better in the future.


Who are you?


We expect to find YOU, a person who likes to be involved where things happens and who want to perform by helping others to move forward. As you will be in the centre of the packaging work, it´s important that you enjoy to be in the lead position and you feel comfortable in driving big meetings and interacting with many people. To do so efficiently, you must also have a good engineering base to understand where we are heading and to ask the right questions, from different stakeholders perspectives. Your ability to keep track of and handle many different issues is essential, as well as having an organized way of working. Of cause you like to support others and you know the way to be successful together is to treat everyone with respect and meet people where they are. And then, of cause, you want to contribute to our team spirit and help us all have fun at work.


Preferred qualifications
Experienced DMU user, for example from previous experience with system component integration/design, as product preparation engineer, spare part engineer or similar
Good in communication and leading cross-functional work
Good Engineering judgment ability from different stake holders perspective
Complete vehicle and/or Chassis knowledge
Relevant University degree (min. Bachelor)
Fluent in English, verbal and written
Experience from VBC PDM system KOLA and CAD system Catia DMU Viewer/DCT is considered as meritorious
