This is a developing and challenging area there you together with a team located globally, (Gothenburg, Charleston, Silicon Valley, Shanghai, and Prague), and other stakeholders such as Quality & Delivery, R&D and Manufacturing & Logistics, can shape the future and contribute to a more personal, sustainable and safe mobility.
This roll is critical for Volvo Cars to be the leader as a premium mobility provider and in this role, at Procurement, you are part of a global team with the mission to develop and maintain a world-class supplier base. The ultimate purpose for this category team is to secure constant semiconductor supply on time, with the right quality, technology and volume.
Ultimately, it's all about cooperating with people inside and outside the company to create a superior experience for the people who buy and drive a Volvo.
What’s in it for you?
In this role, you will:
- establish and manage relations with semiconductor vendors. Act as global supplier owner for selected vendors
- develop and implement a vendor management program with regular governance meetings and follow-up covering technical/product-, supply chain- and commercial topics
- formulate, own, and maintain the category business plan incl. preferred vendor list for the area. Drive strategic activities to reach defined targets
- lead, or participate in, terms and conditions and price negotiations with the vendors
- work in a cross functional team with buyers, category managers, R&D, quality & delivery to analyze the risk profile of the components delivered by the vendors and to implement appropriate risk mitigation actions to increase value for Volvo Cars
- monitor the market to be up to date with industry, material, and technology trends
- actively contribute to a sustainable and resilient value chain through above and other related activities and tasks.
Do you fit the profile?
To fit in this complex area, we look for a person, which is a true collaborator, result driven and relation guru!
You
- have relevant and up-to-date industry/category knowledge gained either from e.g. procurement of semiconductor components in a Tier 1 supplier-, OEM-, EMS- or distributor company; or sales/pre-sales of such components,
referably in the automotive or telecom industries (minimum 5 years).
- have excellent relationship building skills.
- have experience in commercial negotiation in procurement or sales incl. terms & conditions.
- are a strong team player who is honest and with high integrity and actively work with self-development.
- have strong business acumen and strategic mindset.
- can handle parallel projects, you like challenges and are focused on setting and reaching goals.
- are motivated and creative in order to find new solutions and opportunities and dare to challenge the status quo.
- have great presentation- and communication skills.
- are proficient in English, both spoken and written.
- Master / Bachelor degree or equivalent.
