We are now offering an exciting opportunity for a Global Clinical Head (GCH) to join our group within CVRM. This role is preferable based at AstraZeneca's dynamic R&D sites in Gothenburg, Sweden or Gaithersburg, US. This role will report to the Vice President Clinical Cardiovascular and offers the opportunity to play a significant part in driving development programs, as part of a dynamic global team.
What you'll do
The Global Clinical Head is a core member of the Global Product Team (GPT) and is responsible for the benefit risk of a product and the scientific strategies for clinical components of the Target Product Profile (TPP), Target Product Claim (TPC) and core labelling texts. The GCH provides clinical input into overall project strategy and is the physician lead in the Clinical Product Team. The GCH has the accountability for the clinical content of the development programs.
Your main accountabilities / responsibilities:
As the Global Clinical Head, in the Clinical Product Team (CPT), you will:

Be the Lead physician in Clinical Product Team
*
Be responsible for the overall clinical and scientific development for the product
*
Lead medical prioritization of clinical activities within the clinical program
*
Be the single point accountable leader for the design and interpretation of clinical studies ensuring the ethical and scientific integrity of the plans, studies and products
*
Ensure internal and external peer review of study/program designs
As the Global Clinical Head, in the Global Product Team (GPT), you will:
*
Provide scientific strategies for clinical components of the TPP, TPC, and core labelling texts
*
Be responsible for overall benefit risk of the product and give clinical input into overall project strategy
*
Contribute to overall project leadership and strategy as a key GPT member
*
As required, provide clinical strategic input to in-licensing opportunities
*
Support as appropriate within the Program during issue and crisis management as directed by the Therapeutic Area Head for the Late Phase CVRM team
Essential for the role
This role requires a well-trained and experienced Physician with significant hands-on late phase clinical drug development experience and strong strategic leadership and communication skills. You have a Medical Degree M.D. with a relevant specialization (such as Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Anesthesiology) and experience of working with bleeding and/or anticoagulation.
In addition you have:

Substantial experience in Phase 3 program development, trial conduct, NDA/BLA submissions and interacting with major health authorities

Proven skills to interact with Key External Experts showing a high scientific credibility and integrity
*
High capability to lead the development of project strategy and be accountable for project plans, timelines, progress, and outcomes
*
Experience of clinical/commercial interface
*
Ability to travel nationally and internationally
*
Experience in several organizations and geographic locations
With your excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills you have the ability to lead and motivate teams in a matrix environment. This includes to lead, coach and mentor junior physicians/scientists. You cultivate outstanding cross-functional collaborations and effectively communicate at multiple levels of the organisation.
