Within Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions and division Rock Tools, we deliver advanced products and solutions for the mining and construction industries, serving customers across all continents. At our Supply Chain function, we’re responsible for all services connected to the supply chain and logistics processes within Rock Tools. Balancing costs and service levels is a daily challenge for us, and our aim is to provide every single customer with the right product at the right time, without building excessive stock on our part. We’re currently looking for a Global Freight Professional to join us in Sandviken, and we offer you great opportunities for development in our truly global organization!
Your mission
In this position, you play a key role in our delivery chain, where your knowledge and experience are of great value in bringing us one step closer to a successful future within supply chain and logistics! You’re responsible for developing and implementing efficient transportation solutions according to customer needs and connected to different countries and modes of transport around the globe – always with a quality, cost and environmental perspective in mind. Identifying and working with sourcing and contracting of suppliers of goods transportation is an important part of your job, and you ensure alignment with relevant laws and regulations, as well as our own internal sourcing policies.
You also actively drive supplier and performance management and last but not least, you are the main point of contact for internal and external freight-related matters and engage in business intelligence, keeping a close eye on the transport logistic market.
Some global travel is normally included as a natural part of your job. However, due to the pandemic situation, we’re currently even more digital than usual in our ways of working.
Your character
We’re looking for someone with a relevant degree, preferably within Supply Chain, Logistics or Sourcing, and several years’ experience from working within the logistics, transportation and supply chain area. Your background involves sourcing, leading and taking part in negotiations, as well as analyzing, understanding and converting data into business actions. You’re system oriented and a skilled user of the Microsoft Office suite, and we consider experience from a transport management system a great advantage. As we operate in an international environment, you have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
