Through our HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) Global Product Group, Hitachi Energy takes great pride in being a global pioneer in researching, making, and distributing revolutionary DC transmission systems. Our HVDC technology is critical for efficiently transporting electricity over great distances, including submarine cables, while also seamlessly linking power systems around the world.
The entire HVDC organization is growing rapidly and naturally so is the LCI (Life Cycle Information) organization to meet the high order intake of projects and tenders. The organization is not only growing in terms of resources but as well needs to evolve its competence and processes by improving the engineering execution to become leaner. A highly motivated and enthusiastic Manager that is responsible to lead a fantastic team of LCI Managers and LCI Coordinators and beyond in HVDC Engineering global LCI department is needed.
In this role, you will provide strong leadership and guidance to the LCI global team, fostering a positive work culture and ensuring high employee engagement. You will set clear expectations, objectives, and KPIs for the team members, monitoring performance and providing regular feedback and coaching. Furthermore, you will promote professional development and growth opportunities for your team members, identifying and addressing skill gaps through training. You will also drive the development and implementation of standardized engineering LCI processes, tools, and methodologies across the team, fostering efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement.
Collaboration will be key in this role, especially with senior leadership to define and execute the global engineering LCI strategy together with the Global Manager for BIM for the entire HVDC product group, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives. In addition, you will work closely with the Product Owner for BIM & LCI Strategy and the Global Engineering Manager whom you’ll report to.
Your Responsibilities
Manage all employee related activities such as recruitment, onboarding, creating opportunities for training & development, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Build and coach the team to a positive work environment, while also ensuring a safe, secure, and legal workplace.
Act as a key point of contact for escalated issues, troubleshooting challenges, and resolving conflicts within the team or with stakeholders.
Plan and evaluate department actions to achieve department goals and coordinate, develop and enforce system, policy, procedure, and productivity standards.
Define objectives and establish strategic goals by collecting commercial, financial, service and operational data, evaluating trends, and assess the outcome of actions taken.
Perform budgeting and time/cost estimation for projects, ensuring financial objectives are met, and keep track/update the tender and project portfolio and its allocated resources in collaboration with the Portfolio Lead.
Oversee day-to-day project operation, track the project progress, identify mistakes and improvement areas in our processes to set a strategy to improve processes.
Communicate with and update stakeholders such as the Global Engineering Manager, and act as a liaison between departments to foster cross-functional collaboration and transparency.
Your Background
Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Computer Science, or another relevant field, is preferred.
Experience as a people manager or other relevant leadership experience with personnel responsibility, ideally in a dynamic and global organization.
Experience working with BIM and/or LCI is a great advantage.
Structured, well-organized, and confident to take on the role as the leader of the team.
Strong communication, social, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with employees and management.
Fluent in English (both written and spoken) is required, Swedish is a plus.
