The organization
OIP - Packaging Process is an organization within OI - Supply Chain Networks that is responsible for the strategy for our global returnable packaging solutions. Our ambition is to become the leader within sustainable logistics and our mission is to globally develop, manage and optimize our logistic flows and ensure minimal environmental impact, high quality and minimal total logistic cost in our supply chain.
OIPH Packaging Handling and Assortment is responsible for the development and to maintain the Scania standard packaging assortment to assure that the company is ready for coming demands. We have high ambition to improve the assortment by streamlining it and focus on the right material choices to decrease our ecological footprint. We are also responsible for the packaging handling process and to manage improvement activities together with external logistic service providers that act within the packaging network.
We are now looking for a Global Packaging Engineer that can help us take the next step in our journey to become leaders in sustainable logistics.
The role
As a Global Packaging Engineer you will be main responsible of maintaining and developing Scania´s current standard packaging assortment and its related processes and methods. You will work in close cooperation with members of OIPH as well as other organisations.
• Perform quality audits of packaging assortment
• Keep technical documentation related to packaging assortment updated
• Be responsible of continuous improvement related to the packaging assortment. You need to keep up to date with the current trends and future development of packaging solutions for the automotive industry in order to assure continuous improvement and to drive change in the packaging area towards more sustainable and cost efficient solutions.
• Be responsible of keeping related standards and procedures updated. Actively challenge them as well as the current packaging assortment to find efficiency and eliminate waste within the supply chain based on a holistic view of cost, sustainability and quality.
• Initiate, lead and participate in assignments and projects connected to Scania’s packaging assortment. From the idea stage through development, testing and implementation in our production environment.
• You will highlight and define demands on packaging material through close collaboration with stakeholders within Scania´s supply chain in order to ensure development of packaging solutions designed for our processes and production.
• Represent Scania externally in packaging development through collaboration with packaging manufacturers, logistic service providers and part suppliers.
• You will participate in cross functional development forums together with Packaging Engineers within the company.
Your profile
You have a University or College degree (or comparable) , preferably within Packaging Development or logistics. Work experience within packaging development is an advantage.
To be successful in the role you need to have a genuine interest for packaging engineering and supply chain. You easily see the big picture, understand the details and see new opportunities. You are ambitious and determined and have a can do-attitude that enables continuous improvements.
You are well structured and skilled within Excel, Power BI or similar analytics tool and base your solutions on facts, data and analytics.
As the role is cross functional you need to be comfortable networking inside and outside of the company.
