About the job:
In this position, you're responsible for developing and implementing robust product safety strategies, policies, and procedures to support the business in ensuring compliance with the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance across global markets. You remain up-to-date on global safety and sustainability regulations and standards - implementing the integration of these requirements into the product development lifecycle. By ensuring a robust risk management framework and process is implemented for new and existing products, you support the relevant teams, as required, to identify and manage potential safety hazards and sustainability requirements.
In addition, you will work closely with R&D developers and oversee the compliance of purchased machinery from countries where hazardous substances might be present that are not approved within the EU.
Strong expertise in the latest Machinery Directive is crucial, as well as a solid understanding of standards and regulations to ensure machinery compliance and safety within the EU.
Responsibilities:
* Create and enforce effective product safety mitigation strategies in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
* Lead and participate in product safety and compliance risk assessments to identify and address potential risks.
* Develop and implement product testing processes to ensure compliance with safety standards.
* Support and engage in investigations and analyses of product safety incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
* Maintain ongoing compliance with regional and international product safety and sustainability regulations.
* Design and deliver training programs for internal teams on product safety and sustainability protocols and procedures.
* Identify and implement opportunities for enhancing product safety and sustainability practices.
Qualifications:
* Degree in Engineering, Safety Management, or a related field.
* Proven experience in product safety management, including familiarity with machinery directives and product safety standards in the mining industry.
* Strong understanding of product development processes, materials, manufacturing methods, and best practices in safety and sustainability.
* In-depth knowledge of the latest Machinery Directive and relevant standards, especially concerning machinery compliance and safety within the EU.
