The Grade Development Department in Västberga, Stockholm, is responsible for development of new cutting tool materials. Our team is part of the R&D function for Cutting Tool Materials – an agile and curious crew that stay up to date regarding our customers’ needs and requirements – to always be one step ahead and exceed expectations. We’re now looking for a Grade Development Engineer to engage in one of our core grade areas within milling, turning and drilling grade development. About the job
In this position, you act as a technical project manager where you lead the development of our next generation of cutting tool materials and constantly work to improve our understanding of customer demands. You analyze worn cutting tools and draw conclusions on how we continually improve our products. By translating and simplifying complex matters into actions you ensure that the R&D departments are developing appropriate solutions. An important responsibility of yours is to work with development of strategies for the grade area, based on technical customer specification of demands and you investigate what material characteristics are most important to influence the development of innovative cutting tool materials.
You report to the R&D Manager of Grades and the location for this position is in Västberga (Stockholm). Some travel is included in your job.
About you
We’re looking for someone with a master’s or PhD degree, preferably in Materials or Mechanical Engineering. Experience from working with material research or product development combined with customer interaction is advantageous. Practical or theoretical experience of metal cutting is also valuable in this position, as is experience in writing reports and analyzing results of projects and tests and presenting these. As we operate in a truly global environment, you’re fluent in English, while knowledge in Swedish is advantageous.
