The External Relations & EU Projects Group at the European Spallation Source ERIC in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for an Grant Officer.
Description of directorate/division
The External Relations & EU Projects Group provides tailored support and assistance to scientists and engineers at ESS in developing, writing and submitting applications for national, but mostly European research funding. The Group is also in charge of administrating all awarded grants at ESS, which includes the grant set-up, the financial reporting throughout the implementation phase as well as the closing-out of the project including the facilitation of audits.
We are seeking a Grant Officer with relevant professional experience in application writing and grant administration to join our team. The role will involve providing proposal development, project management and technical project support services to ESS scientists and engineers as well as handling the administration of the grants in coordinating with in-house divisions, mainly of the Administration Directorate.
Description of main responsibilities
• Motivate, inform, advise and coach scientists during the whole lifetime of their projects, from idea to final reporting
• Identify suitable calls and funding opportunities incl. weekly screening of national and international information portals
• Actively work with colleagues from the science and engineering teams and ESS In-kind partners to identify and develop excellent project ideas, funding sources and research and innovation opportunities
• Establish strategic partnerships with internal and external partners and stakeholders
• Support ESS scientists and engineers in writing research proposals incl. the coordination with the project consortium
• Maintain the Group’s library of text modules describing the organization, work-flows and project management routines
• Review of drafts and discussion of results with researchers of all levels and external partners in order to identify key messages to highlight for scientific audiences
• Preparation of administrative documents and budget negotiations
• Administration of the grant and ensuring the timely and complete delivery of the financial reporting of selected grants incl.
• Monthly cost control for the in-house Finance Division
• Quarterly reporting for the respective grant participants
• Annual reporting to funding agencies
Qualifications
• Relevant 5 – 7 years work experience from a similar role and a track record of delivering research and innovation proposals profound experience in scientific proposal writing
• Academic degree in subject relevant to the portfolio of the tasks. A background in a natural science discipline will be an asset
• Proven knowledge of EU framework programmes, in particular Horizon 2020
• Experience in the management of EU framework programme projects
• Excellent writing and communication skills in English (native speaker level)
• Experience in working on multiple projects simultaneously
• Self-motivated, service-oriented, flexible and able to prioritise and meet agreed deadlines

Duration & Location
The temporary position is to be filled as soon as poosible and expires 2018-09-30, at the latest. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.
