Group Data Privacy Counsel – Innovation & R&D Products and Services

Verisure is seeking a engaged Group Data Privacy Counsel with a focus on Innovation & R&D Products and Services to be part of a passionate team enabling and supporting the data privacy network in the countries and the functions within the areas of responsibilities. You will be a part of our fast-growing Legal team and will report to our Group Head of Privacy.

The Group Innovation & R&D Products and Services Counsel - Data Privacy role is part of the Group Privacy Team in Verisure, and will involve working closely with our Technology & Innovation partners, Proposition Managers, Product Managers, Project Managers, IT systems architects, Information Security experts, Counsel and Data Privacy Officers in our markets,  our Group Head of Data Privacy and our Group Innovation Counsel on topics of critical importance for the delivery of our services and our trust promise to customers. The role is based in Amsterdam (Netherlands) along the Group Head of Privacy, but can also be based in our Innovation hub in Malmö (Sweden).

The Legal team

Our global combined legal, compliance, privacy, regulatory advocacy and public affairs team consists of over 100 lawyers and other professionals across the organization that come from 18 countries, representing four continents, with a strong gender balance across all levels of the team, including in the Group legal management team. We are well-integrated, working closely together across countries as well as the organization to leverage each other’s experience, to develop best practices, and to deliver our colleagues best-in-class legal partnership.

Key Responsibilities

This role is part of the Central Group Privacy Team in Verisure and will partner primarily with the Innovation teams, Proposition Management, other Group Privacy team members (i.e., on Contracting) but also with data privacy teams in the countries and Group functions such as Information Security, Technology on topics of critical importance for the delivery of our services and our trust promise to customers. You will have a coordinating role for the Privacy program roll-out, supporting the Group Head of Privacy with priority setting and managing progress of plans and activities, providing hands-on support for country & function partners for actionable solutions for risk mitigation with a key focus on privacy by design in products and services and customer facing materials, managing privacy impact assessments and risk mitigations, supporting customer related queries and other matters.

Responsibilities will include: 
* Support/carry out country/functional/group data privacy impact assessments on innovation projects in close collaboration with local privacy leads, privacy champions and Data Privacy Officers (‘DPOs’) in our clusters/countries, and support them with Data Subject Requests or other queries of our customers.
* Ensure that Verisure Innovation AB is supported with privacy advice for regular committees and incidents/audit reviews and support interlink between Innovation and Arlo ways of working.
* Collaborate with our Group Innovation Counsel and Group team members i.e. with a focus on contracting and Arlo technologies, to ensure that customer guidance, privacy notices and contracts are fit for purpose.
* Assist with the on-going development of data privacy policies and processes, consent mechanisms etc., including strategic advice on key legal data privacy issues within the technology area and incident and breach management.

About you

We are looking for a experienced privacy professional with a demonstrable knowledge, experience and interest in data privacy and Innovation, IT, Technology and R&D related areas.

You combine exceptional legal and technical knowhow skills with a pragmatic and resilient approach to management of day-to-day privacy operations with a specific focus on privacy by design in products and services.

* A minimum 4-6 years of professional legal experience
* Excellent awareness of- and interest in existing and developing law in the EU.
* A successful track record of providing commercial and strategic advice and guidance to middle and senior management.
* A successful track record of providing well founded advice and guidance regarding incidents and data breaches and digital privacy matters such as cookie management.
* Certified Information Privacy Professional Europe (CIPP/E) qualification or equivalent, CIPT would be a plus.
* A good sense of bringing legal messages across to a non-legal audience, eye for legal design (visuals) and a keen interest and understanding of technology of products and services.
* Fluency in English – any other European language would be an asset.
