The Machine Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Group Leader for Engineering Support.

Description of directorate/division
The ESS centralized design division is part of the ESS Machine Directorate with the following responsibilities: 
System owner of the integrated 3D Master model, ESS Plant Layout and its integration, configuration and conformity control.
The responsibility is also to provide the ESS project with sufficient resources, including competence and relevant processes, methods and tools and see to that the organization's processes, methods and standards are adhered to.
The design division develops processes, methods and tools within Survey, Alignment & Metrology, advice engineering groups on design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of equipment stands and support systems, monument system and other alignment systems. The division is responsible of the management of the Product Data Management system as well as to perform support, training and methods for the ESS projects, internally and towards collaborating partners. 

Description of main responsibilities
As a Group Leader of Engineering Support, you are responsible of providing the project with sufficient resources, including competence and relevant processes, methods and tools and signing resource contracts. You are expected to take an active part in project planning ensuring the organization's processes, methods and standards are adhered to. Important tasks are also to support and guide the personnel in their daily work, actively encouraging the personnel to shorten project lead-time and reduce costs. You should be available for meetings with the project managers to obtain all relevant information on the performance and competence development of your personnel in the project. Your task is to deliver results in accordance with the agreements made with the projects.

As a Group Leader of Engineering Support, you are also responsible of actively supporting and encouraging the projects, supporting the projects in regards to competence allocation, prioritization and problem-solving. It is important that you contribute to the project work with your skills and experiences. You will ensure the allocated resources are available for the project. Your responsibility is to support the project members and increase their commitment to the projects. Your responsibility is also to coordinate external framework agreements and procurement of external capabilities for the ESS project.

Qualifications





• Bachelor in engineering (Master preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and design experience. 

• Extensive engineering management experience, preferably in the field of neutrons, accelerator or nuclear facilities.

• Production of management reports. Project/Resource management.

• Business negotiation.

• Flexible approach and ability to cope with changing demands and priorities.

• Experience of working in an international environment is essential.

• Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite; knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage.

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.

Start date
The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
