Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.
In addition, to be a global champion must strengthen its presence in several commercial vehicle markets, for example, China. This ambition requires an R&D organization that can develop, maintain and further develop the aimed product portfolio.
The speed and the quality of our strategy execution will be the most important differentiator in the coming years ahead. For that reason, we are now looking for managers for the cab development, both within the exterior and interior areas.
Job Description
You will be responsible for a group consisting of 5-15 engineers, working together to create a mechanical design for the cab exterior or interior. The group’s mission will be to create or adapt solutions for the Asian markets.
You will have a mix of tasks in terms of
• recruiting and managing your employees
• product guidance, technology development
• competence development
• creating efficient team structures
• coaching employees
• support your teams in their collaboration with other teams and stakeholders inside and outside of Scania.
Especially in the beginning, the management team will work together to recruit the teams as most groups are new.
Your profile
You have substantial leadership skills. You have a lot of enthusiasm as well as the ability to see people’s capabilities and to trust others. To succeed in this position you need to be strong in building teams, be communicative, show grit, and be energized by challenges. You have an interest in, and preferably also some experience in mechanical development, industrial design, ergonomics, testing, or other areas of relevance to truck cab development.
We are looking for a team player with a can-do mentality combined with strong integrity and a structured way of working. To fit the expectations of the role we think you are:
• highly motivated by building teams and good products
• consciously looking for improvements and can make decisions under pressure
• curious about exploring new markets and user needs
You have at least 10+ years of professional experience and good command of English is required. Mandarin and Swedish language skills are an advantage.
Your location
The Industrial Operations Asia - Research and Development (TR) are based in Södertälje. However, flexible work location may be applied to reflect competencies needed and deliveries in the project. A shorter or longer period in China must be considered.
