Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.
Global Industrial Development (DB) is responsible for consolidation and development of Scania’s joint competence within industrial engineering, as well as development and coordination of related IT-systems. We also coordinate Scania Production activities within TRATON (former VW Truck & Bus Holding).
Global industrial Engineering (DBE) is a department of DB and has the mission to strengthen and develop Scania's competence in production engineering. The mission is undertaken by Engineering Experts, in the different core competences areas such as tightening, cutting and welding technologies etc, as well as Digital Factory engineers, handling many of our digital engineering tools.
Your working area
As a manager of engineering experts, you need to manage highly skilled people. Therefore it is utterly important to use their competences with the right issues and without waste. To do as such, you need to understand their core competence areas in a broader perspective in order to discuss technical matters and to support them by prioritising activities according to:
• The customer (PRU’s) needs for today and for the future; directly with the technical managers and engineers but also towards the Development Group Engineering (DGE)
• The future technological trends towards the Technology Road Map (TRM), Advanced Engineering and Research related
• The networks assignments, both internal and external
• Benchmark and collaboration with external partners, competitors and Traton
• Large strategic projects affecting production and logistics, in need of support and guidance.
Besides managing your team and their deliveries, you will also manage a cross functional team of technical managers, called Development group engineering -assembly processes. Together with the chairman you need to coordinate the technical networks within these sub-groups.
Your profile
In order to succeed in this work, you need to have a MSc in Engineering, leadership and managerial experience together with a background in industrial engineering and production systems. You will manage a team of people who works in different technical areas and with different profiles at the same time. Diversity mindset is the key. Not less important, as the action field is global, you need also to tackle with different cultures and, as such, good communications skills and English spoken are mandatory. Swedish is also important and German are an advantage.
