Position description - This is how you could make an impact
We are now looking for a skilled and passionate Group manager to lead the Physical and Digital Modeling team located in Lundby, Gothenburg, supporting all business areas within Volvo Group – Volvo Trucks, Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Bus, Volvo Penta, and Volvo Energy.
As the leader of this team, you are a valuable member of our management team forming the Design department for the future. You drive the area of expertise and take pride in adapting, developing, and optimizing ways to present and deliver the right model quality. You work in close collaboration, and with integrated structure, with the whole design team.
You have a good understanding of VR/XR process and tools in order to drive continuous improvements to build the best process supporting both physical and virtual models.
You will be leading and developing a team to secure individual competence development, relevant application knowledge and a high performing team culture.
Pro-activity in planning and constant communication and coordination of tasks/priorities within the team is at the core and you deliver on operational expense budget.
As manager of the workshop and studio model space you are main responsible and key player to keep a good order to secure safety and a good work environment for the whole studio.
You will report to the Volvo Group Design Site GOT Director.

Requirements:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Surface design or equivalent, Master’s degree is preferred
Several years of design industry experience, preferably from automotive
Solid and up-to-date knowledge of design modelling tools and processes
Proven leadership abilities
Full understanding of, and ability to advocate, the design process
Proven and exemplary abilities to build networks and partnerships.

The team of 29 talented individuals is a flexible group, who take pride in meeting their deliveries on time and with great quality. It is a good mix of different work competencies, such as digital modelers, clay modelers, 3D printer operator and milling operator. During project intense periods we also engage external partners to support especially with digital modeling.
Everyone works closely together with the rest of the design team and is an integrated part of the design process. Furthermore, there is a good diversity between gender, age and nationality, making the team very open and inclusive to new people.
We organize different types of team activities every now and then, to try new things together and sometimes be a bit competitive – as we always try out best!
