LKAB Exploration department has over the last couple of years been growing and taken large steps in implementing an exploration strategy for the company. The Exploration department is consisting of three sections where the specialist section supports both near mine and field exploration with skills within specific areas like resource estimation, geology, permitting, drilling technique and geophysics. The department is in an expansive phase with responsibilities in exploration with a focus on iron ore deposits in our underground mines and open pits and their close surroundings in Malmberget, Kiruna and Svappavaara, as well as green field exploration and resource estimation.


About the position
We are now looking for a Group Manager for the Exploration Specialist section, responsible for the Geologist team. You will be expected to independently lead the team in accordance with explorations assignments and business orientation. Responsibilities within working environment, budgeting, reporting as well as development of the team and its members. Leading the team as well as participate in projects and act as a specialist within your area of expertise.

Skills and qualifications
To be successful in this role we believe that you have at least a bachelor’s degree within geology or similar. We see that you have experience of leading a team as well as relevant experience within exploration, mining or project development.


As a person you should be responsible and driven, but also percipient and flexible. The position includes much contact with others both in and outside the company where good collaboration is essential.


You possess both written and spoken English, and additionally Swedish, at least as a beginner and eager to learn.


Driving license is a requirement for all positions at LKAB.


You will be based in Kiruna or Malmberget, close to the mining operation and city of Kiruna or Malmberget, situated in Swedish Lapland above the Arctic Circle.
