Our joint venture
Volvo Cars is one of the most well-known and respected car brands in the world. Northvolt is a leading supplier of sustainable, high-quality battery cells and systems, dedicated to delivering the world’s greenest lithium-ion battery. Together, we have formed a joint venture, NOVO Energy, to power the next generation of pure electric Volvo and Polestar cars.

Our Gigafactory in Torslanda will be one of the largest cell production facilities in Europe, with the potential to produce battery cells for half a million Volvo and Polestar cars per year.

The team - Manufacturing Engineering
Our Manufacturing Engineering team is coalition of specialists and engineers across a broad range of engineering disciplines. Together they work toward the shared goal of scaling and industrialising the production of our Lithium-Ion battery technology that will help Volvo transform into a pure electric car manufacturer.
Our Engineers are collaborative, nimble, and always open to learn and grow. Their skills and experiences come from a variety of industries all over the world and span chemical, electrical, mechanical, and industrial engineering.

The team is currently focused on designing, planning and equipping a world class Gigafactory in time for Start of Production in 2026. This is an immense undertaking requiring the joint efforts and contributions of engineers working cross-functionally, with the ultimate goal of producing the world’s most sustainable lithium-ion batteries.

We’re now looking for talented engineers at the beginning of their careers to join us, get stuck-in and grow with us at NOVO Energy in a learn-on-the-job setting. Here you’ll have the opportunity to build highly sought-after skills and experiences ranging from broadly applicable project management skills to highly specialised skills in high-tech battery manufacturing.

- Associate Material Handling Engineer – put your logistics and planning skills to the test
- Associate Process & Equipment Engineer – become a master in manufacturing processes
- Associate Automation Engineer – enable high-tech manufacturing through automation




Who we're looking for
For these development roles, we're looking for candidates with 0-2 years working experience (with some room for flexibility), and a recent bachelor (or higher) degree within chemical, electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering.

- We ideally see that you have previous work experience from the production and manufacturing industries but are open to other work experiences and professions.
- You have a strong work ethics and well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Our working environment is a fun, authentic and respectful one that values kindness, passion, drive and the ability to support others - and we see that you mirror this.
- Great communication skills are must as you will work in close collaboration with many different teams.
- Swedish speaking skills is highly preferred, professional level spoken and written English is a requirement.
- To be considered you need to have existing working rights in Sweden.

Our state-of-the-art R&D facility will gather leading expertise from all over the world, to create the next generation battery cells.
