GTC Research Engineer – Engine Systems Architect
GTC in Trollhättan, Sweden, is now looking for an Engine Systems Architect with a passion for aerospace and new technologies.
Our department System Analysis and Intellectual Property is at the forefront of advancing and analysing next generation sustainable aero engine concepts and system capabilities. We also support our business and marketing organizations with input for decision-making and strategic plans. We are now looking for a new passionate and visionary team member that want to be part of the journey to shape the future of flight.
Key Responsibilities
The primary role is to develop next generation aero engine concepts including aircraft & engine integration and performance analysis. Typical responsibilities include:
Engine and Aircraft integration studies
Performance analysis of aero engines in service and future engine concepts
Interaction with relevant disciplines e.g. aerodynamics, turbomachinery, mechanical design, thermal management, materials, controls, lifecycle assessment and sustainability
Component and engine trade studies
Assure proper documentation of technical results and presenting the results internally and externally
Contribute with creativity and support colleagues in our technology teams, with the future possibility to take on leader roles within GTC
Participate in, and by time, lead research programs in corporation within the GKN Aerospace ECO system
The work is performed jointly with your team colleagues, through internal technology development projects and in research projects often done in bilateral or multilateral collaboration with our GKN Aerospace colleagues, industry and academic partners and customers.

In this role you will report to the manager for System Analysis & Intellectual Property
Job Qualifications
Understanding of aircraft performance, concept design and engine integration
Experience from mean line, through flow and CFD analysis of turbomachinery components, engine nacelles and installation effects
You have a strong interest for multiphysics and multidisciplinary design tools and methods
You have an ambition and capability to drive technology projects internally and externally in close collaboration with academic research and partner programs
You have good ability to communicate and present plans and results internally as well as externally with our partners
You have good social skills, the ability to create effective networks and can take on a technical responsibility role
You are proficient in the English language
You have experience from using relevant gas turbine simulation software e.g. Gasturb, Proosis, NPSS
A genuine interest for aircraft and aircraft engines is beneficial
Experience from programming languages such as C++, Fortran, Python, Matlab
You are willing to support University research including Internships and Masters projects and PhD students
Required education
Licentiate degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering, engineering physics or other relevant engineering degree from an accredited university
Relevant courses in thermodynamics, gas dynamics, aerodynamics, turbomachinery, performance analysis, and experience with relevant software
Travel requirements: This position is based in Sweden, as such the applicant should be able to gain the right to live and work in Sweden. Travel to other locations within Sweden as well as EU, UK and US is expected.
