About Foundation El Sistema Sweden
El Sistema in Sweden started in Sweden, 2009, in Gothenburg, when Gustavo Dudamel was the head conductor of The Gothenburg Symphony. On May 12, 2009, Abreu was awarded the Polar Music Prize, given by the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. In 2012, Foundation El Sistema started, with Gustavo Dudamel as founder. The purpose is to offer musical education based on the vision of El Sistema of Venezuela, offering children from early ages to play symphony orchestra and choir, teaching to play acoustic music instruments, and through music contributing to a positive social change for children.
The movement of El Sistema in Sweden is growing, and today there are 20 municipal schools and several orchestras who use the method and the vision of El Sistema of Venezuela.
Foundation El Sistema Sweden offers education and development in music based on experiences in the El Sistema movement, from many countries sharing the idea of El Sistema.
Education: Bachelor or arts, or equivalent musical education.
Duties:
To continue developing El Sistema in Sweden we need to acquire expertise in classical music from the Venezuelan organization Fundacion Musical Simon Bolivar based in Caracas, Venezuela. The unique model of musical education which has grown there for 40 years is very interesting for El Sistema Sweden to take advantage of.
As a guest teacher in the Foundation El Sistema you will be working with training/skills development with El Sistema programs in Sweden, development methodology, pedagogy, training and a repertoire based on the experience of Venezuela's El Sistema.
You will work on developing a digital learning platform of El Sistema.
You will take part in developing the European cooperation and establish valuable contacts to Sweden.
Qualifications:
- Music education in orchestra and instrument from Venezuela.
- Experinces from the organization Fundacion Musical Simon Bolivar in Caracas.
- Experience of managing and leading a "nucleo" in El Sistema in Venezuela.
- Experience from El Sistema in other countries.
- Ability as conductor for symphony orchestras on different levels, from young children to excellent level.
- Ability to structure and organize work.
- Analytical skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate teachers and leaders and to development.
- Good interpersonal skills.
