We are looking for a hardware test engineer to a permanent position within the field of system development. The role is within the Instrument Engineering section of the BioProcess System department, R&D in Uppsala.
The BioProcess Systems department develops instrument systems for liquid chromatography used for protein purification as well as other devices and software to support the customer workflows in the Bioprocess area. Within the department we have many competences such as mechanics, electronics, software and application. The development is driven in cross-functional, project teams where we create products for the Healthcare and Life Sciences industry. The Instrument Engineering section main activities are focused on hardware architecture, specifications, instrument design and verification of these products.
What you'll do
As a hardware test engineer you will participate in product development, support and product care activities. You will be involved in different phases of the development such as writing test and verification plans and procedures, perform hands-on verification of modules such as pumps, valves and components that are parts of modules and document results in technical reports and such.
The tasks include either some of or all the following tasks regarding ÄKTA and Biacore products:
Develop specifications and/or test cases on part, module and sub-system level
Perform hands-on physical verification of chromatographic parts, modules and sub-systems
Perform tests to study chemical compatibility
Independently plan and accomplish given tasks from Project Manager or Section Manager, to reach given project objectives
Independently or in cooperation with others solve problems of troubleshooting character in project and/or line related work
Report and present results orally and/or in writing

The work is conducted in close cooperation with specialists from different parts of R&D, such as mechanical and electrical design engineers, software development and application why it is desirable for applicants to have interest and insight in several or all of these areas.
Who you are
MSc or BSc within Technical Physics/Biotechnology or similar.
Documented experience of product development work.
Knowledge and interest for equipment and software for measurements and analytics.
Interest in lab equipment i.e. climatic chambers as well as working with new investments and keeping the equipment up to date and calibrated.
Knowledge in statistics, Weibull analytics and DoE
Previous knowledge of physical testing/verification
Hands on, practical, driven to in a short time frame deliver accurate test results in a technical report,
Good understanding of GDP and importance of using QMS
English as working language (documentation), Swedish is beneficial
Good communication skills
Good analytical skills
Curious, inclusive and good interpersonal skills
Good in personal planning and ability to plan, execute and follow up activities
Good computer skills and ability to work in both general and internal systems
