Our first aircraft is the ES-19, a nineteen-passenger airliner with an operating range of 400 km. The ES-19 is a fully electric aircraft, and our goal is to have the aircraft certified for commercial operation by 2026.

Role Overview
The Head of Airborne Equipment Development reports to the Head of Engineering (Chief Engineer) and has broad responsibility for the design, development & qualification of the aircraft systems & equipment which are developed in-house.
You will initially be responsible for establishing our in-house equipment development capabilities, including definition of processes, procedures and development tools. You will also assist with the hiring and training of the hardware & software development team to execute the projects.
You will eventually lead a multi-functional team, covering software development, hardware development, equipment integration, validation & verification, and qualification.
As the leader of the Airborne Equipment Development team, you will be an internal supplier of equipment and systems to the aircraft system integration groups. You will therefore represent the Airborne Equipment Development team at program/technical reviews as well as customer/supplier meetings, ensuring the engineering definition meets all stakeholder requirements.
As part of our approved Design Organization, you will also be responsible for ensuring adherence to all engineering processes/standards.
Qualifications & Experience

Graduate degree in aerospace, aeronautical, electrical, or equivalent experience.

Minimum 15 years experience in an engineering leadership position within an aerospace avionics/electrical system or equipment developer.

Experience with systems & equipment development programs through the entire design, development & certification lifecycle (EASA/FAA Part 23 or 25 or TSO).

Direct experience leading airborne systems & equipment development projects.

Detailed knowledge of airborne hardware and software development assurance processes (RTCA DO-178C & 254).

Solid knowledge of systems engineering principles for safety critical systems (SAE ARP 4754/4761).

Working knowledge of environmental qualification standards (RTCA DO-160G).

Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English.

Experience working in an aerospace start-up environment.

Experience working in an EASA Part 21J Design Organization, or international equivalent.

Proficiency coordinating activities of sub-contract and supplier companies.
