Foundational Products & Chapters is part of Technology, a new function within Volvo Group Digital & IT with a big stake in the Group’s digital transformation. Technology will modernize Volvo’s core digital backbone making it a platform for digital products.


Foundational Products & Chapters is responsible for API & Integration, DevSecOps, Cloud and Development Platforms. Our Foundational IT products are used by digital product teams and enable them and their products to outperform Volvo’s competitors. Our digital talents develop capabilities and digital technologies to improve business performance and create value for the Group with speed and at scale.


We collaborate with other parts of the organization, both in Group IT, with TD/BAs and Group Functions. We foster an environment where ideas, thoughts and opinions can be shared. We are team players with clear common ambitions, and we win together.


This is how you could make an impact


As Head of API & Integration, you will be an important contributor to the execution of our Digital & IT Strategy and to the transformation of the Volvo Group IT landscape.
You will be key in the execution of the Digital & IT Strategy. In this role, you will be an important contributor to the transformation of the IT landscape in Volvo Group.
You will drive the shift to a modern, agile and cost-efficient delivery organization. You will be part of the Foundational Products & Chapters Management Team and report to Head of Foundational Products & Chapters.
You like to develop digital talents and to create an organization that is curious and hungry to learn, including the facilitation of API & Integration knowledge and competences beyond your own team.
We also count on you to be a digital technologies ambassador and facilitating cross functional innovation exercises.
As part of your job, you will monitor existing & emerging integration technologies, integration architecture patterns, and integration best practices and recommend their adoption in Volvo when relevant.
Your team will take pride in understanding the market, knowing what good integration looks like, and will ensure the Digital & IT community integration skills & capabilities constantly improves.
In close collaboration with peers and senior leadership, you will set & execute the API & Integration strategy for the Volvo Group, with a strong focus on making the use of API & Integration technologies and platforms easy across the Volvo Group while ensuring their scalability, performance and reliability.
You will also work regularly with vendors & partners, creating & maintaining strong relationships with them, and strengthen their collaboration by agreeing on co-investments, sharing of risk and early access programs.
You demonstrate an inclusive leadership, and you communicate at ease with your team of approximately 45 dedicated and highly skilled professionals and business stakeholders to reach the objectives.


Who are you?

To be successful in this position we believe you have a university degree or equivalent, and several years of experience from leading people or leading leaders’ positions, preferably within IT management.


The right candidate will be able to think and act strategically but also to operate and implement change tactically when required, dealing effectively with ambiguity and managing changing priorities. You should be passionate about driving strategic & technological transformation in a business focused, fact-based and collaborative way to achieve real impact. This role requires solid communication skills and a passion for leading, inspiring and developing people.


In addition to this, you are a passionate believer in continuous learning. You should feel energized by working both independently and interdependently, have proven skills in cross-functional collaboration and thrive in managing, foster and enable both the perform and the transform angles of the job.

The location for the position is flexible, with Bangalore (IN), Wroclaw (PL), Gothenburg (SE) or Lyon (FR) as preferred location.
