With new technologies and business models increasing in importance at high speed, the transportation and infrastructure industries are changing more and at higher pace than ever before. As the Volvo Group, we are accelerating to drive our industry forward also in these important areas. Do you want to join our journey and shape tomorrow’s society together with us?
Working at Volvo Energy is different
Welcome to a team unified by an important mission, great ideas, fun, diversity and inclusiveness. Our colleagues are - and will always be - the most important part of the story. Each colleague truly matters and plays an important role in our journey. Consequently, whilst demands are high, there is also plenty of opportunities to learn and grow - as a professional and as a person. We will be a fairly small team and therefore look for colleagues that thoroughly enjoy this intrapreneurial challenge, can hit the ground running and lead with passion, perform with purpose and transform with vision. Moreover, it will be essential you have a strong ability to form trustful relationships to effectively work with partners - inside and outside of the Volvo Group – in a cross-functional manner. You will make a difference!
Making it a success for yourself and Volvo Energy
You welcome this chance to work in a smart and modern way, where we together are the catalysts to make our desired future happen. As our business area is new, you need to share our curiosity for new technologies, tools and ways-of-working and constantly want to take it to the next level. At the same time, you realize that breaking new ground also means mistakes will happen and nothing will be perfect. These are not frustrations but instead learning opportunities for us. You see the journey itself as the destination and whilst you are highly successful in your current position, you feel a strong desire to move further – you want to move from success to significance.
Being part of Battery Industrialization & Logistics
Battery Industrialization and Logistics is a function within Volvo Energy that takes care of the second life of the batteries from an industrial and logistics perspective. Having circularity in our DNA, our responsibility starts when collecting the batteries at the dealers, goes through circular operations (refurbishing, remanufacturing, repurposing) and ends up with recycling.
Working in close collaboration with our colleagues from Group Trucks Operations and Purchasing, we lead the strategic work and constantly update it to match the business situation and the best practices of the industry. We orchestrate the work between functions, maintain relevant internal services and appropriate external partnerships to fulfill our mission. We communicate broadly to secure proper knowledge, involvement and recognition of our colleagues and counterparts. We monitor and optimize both operational and environmental performances of our logistics and industrial systems.
What are we looking for in this specific role?
We are now looking for a Head of Battery Recycling to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for closing the loop of the battery value chain. You will secure the proper and optimized recycling of the batteries and modules and also guarantee materials are reinjected back in the manufacturing process. You will do this together with your colleagues from Group Trucks Operations and Group Trucks Purchasing, involving current and future partners.
Your starting point will be to:
Define with stakeholders recycling strategy leveraging on partnerships
Consolidate needs to approach partners with relevant and attractive business
Secure specific recycling pre-requisites for product projects and associated logistics
Follow-up raw and recycled material development, highlight risks and/or capture opportunities
Contribute in setting up Purchasing contracts to fulfill circularity ambitions
What are the qualifications likely required to be successful?
To succeed, we believe that you are innovative, pragmatic, creative with a positive spirit, curious and have an entrepreneurial mindset. Being recognized in your specialties, you are a forward-looking person and you see opportunities when others see risks. Being appreciated by your peers, you enjoy connecting with a broad network, building win-win approaches and developing relationships.
You have a strong ability to move from words to action. You are down-to-earth and are equally at home working hands-on as you are leading gemba walks or strategic discussions.
Your experience is:
University degree in industrial engineering or similar, preferably in chemical area.
Significant leadership experience (line and/or project) in industrial/supply chain functions.
Recognized experience in battery recycling area.
Excellent knowledge in building frameworks (process, methods, strategies, plans) and leveraging intrapreneurial skills in large, cross-functional organizations.
Good knowledge of industrial, circular value-chains for battery packs and related components.
Fluent in English, written and spoken.
The location for the position is flexible and will be preferably in Gothenburg or Skövde, Sweden, or in Lyon, France.
So you want to apply?
If our entrepreneurial spirit, adaptability and customer-focused mindset light your inner fire, we might be a great match!
In addition to your CV, add your reflection about the question below in your cover letter, maximum half a page:
