Head of Communications

The role
We are recruiting a Head of Communications to spearhead our strategic communications and to lead the communications team. The Head of Communications oversees two communication staff and reports directly to the Executive Director, serving as part of the Foundation’s management team.
Main responsibilities
Responsible for the planning, delivery, and reporting of the Foundation’s yearly communications strategy.
Advise the management team on communication issues and support their external and internal communication efforts.
Manage communications staff (and occasional consultants), providing both managerial oversight and mentoring.
Oversee production processes and conduct quality control on all communications products, particularly flagship reports, ensuring consistency in tone and design.
Maintain overall oversight of the Foundation’s website and social media channels.
Further develop and review internal policies, guidelines, and webtools related to communications and branding.
Monitor and research trends in communications and implement improvements.
Develop and manage relationships with key partners and media and respond to crises or challenging situations quickly and professionally.
Requirements
Ten years of work experience in the field of communications and demonstrated knowledge in strategic communications and outreach.
Experience of writing, editing and producing written communications for targeted audiences.
Knowledge of managing digital content management systems and experience with social media platforms and management suites.
Understanding of the need for and value of an editorial and visual identity.
Strong project manager with an ability to initiate and drive tasks and ideas forward.
Strong command of English and Swedish.
Open-minded, flexible, and a good team player with an understanding of the work of a values-based organisation.
The ability to maintain professionalism, creativity, and enthusiasm working in a fast-paced international environment.
An existing legal right to work in Sweden.
Additional merits (not required)
Experience working for an international organisation.
Familiarity with international policy issues and multilateral actors, especially those relevant to the Foundation’s work.
Familiarity with with design software (InDesign, Photoshop, etc) and content management systems (Wordpress).
Terms of employment
The Head of Communications will be based at the Foundation’s office in Uppsala, Sweden.
The position is permanent, with six months of probation. The salary will be determined based on the individual’s experience and qualifications.
The Foundation offers generous leave benefits and a wellness allowance based on full-time employment.
Pensions are stipulated in the Foundation’s Pensions Policy.
