About this opportunity
The Compliance Office has the group responsibility for three compliance areas: Antitrust (compliance with competition law, also known as antitrust law), Anti-corruption (compliance with corruption and bribery law) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML). The Head of Competition & Antitrust sits within the Compliance Office, and reports to the Chief Compliance Officer.
The Head of Competition & Antitrust will counsel the GFLA Leadership Team and all relevant Ericsson stakeholders on all aspects of competition and antitrust law. The Head of Competition & Antitrust will oversee all antitrust law aspects affecting Ericsson, including:
Leading the company’s competition law program.
Developing and maintaining a comprehensive antitrust compliance program.
Counselling and supporting Ericsson stakeholders on all aspects of competition and antitrust law and policy, globally.
What you will do
Lead in developing a culture of integrity, setting an example for transparency and promoting an environment where speaking up in a professional manner is encouraged.
Lead the company’s competition law program – providing competition law support globally to Ericsson stakeholders.
Develop and maintain Ericsson’s antitrust compliance program, collaborating with Compliance Office colleagues.
Manage a team of competition law experts.
Proactively identify competition law issues related to Ericsson’s business environment.
Counsel and respond to Ericsson stakeholders on questions related to competition law.
Promote awareness of competition law compliance requirements within Ericsson; swiftly address any suspected competition law breaches.
Support Corporate & Government Investigations team by leading Ericsson’s defense in competition law investigations by antitrust agencies.
Provide competition policy support to Ericsson stakeholders, (especially the IPR & Licensing and standardization organizations), including written and oral competition law advocacy and policy work.
Draft Ericsson written responses to competition law public consultations and inquiries by competition agencies, collaborating with Ericsson policy colleagues.
Act as a liaison to, and proactively liaise with, competition agencies on policy and enforcement issues of importance to Ericsson.
Provide advice to management on strategic proactive use of competition law and policy as a tool to promote commercial goals.
Support merger and acquisition work with competition analysis and obtaining regulatory antitrust clearance in needed jurisdictions.
Provide and coordinate antitrust analysis for 3rd party mergers and acquisitions that may affect Ericsson.
Supervise outside competition law counsel work, including budget for same.
Alert management and relevant stakeholders to key worldwide competition law and policy developments and/or legislative changes that affect Ericsson.
Maintain a sound understanding of Ericsson’s business activities so as to predict potential competition law issues or offer proactive competition law solutions for commercial situations.
Review contracts and written materials as needed to ensure compliance with antitrust laws; provide competition law analysis of same.
Represent Ericsson’s interests in international antitrust fora and professional competition law associations as needed (e.g. the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), International Competition Network (ICN), OECD Competition Committee etc.).
You will bring
Character consistent with Ericsson values of integrity, respect, professionalism and perseverance; must be empathetic and willing to listen
15+ years of experience with competition law and policy, including experience as in-house antitrust counsel.
experience working for a competition enforcement agency - a plus;
international competition law experience, i.e. experience with competition law in more than one jurisdiction - a plus;
Master of Law, with a specialization in competition law.
Fluent in English, with excellent proven written and oral communication skills.
Good business knowledge/understanding.
Excellent networking ability and people skills including the ability to handle executive level internal and external contacts, as well as government authorities and regulators officials.
Excellent, interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
Strong project management and negotiations skills.
Independent, goal-oriented and systematic way of working.
Willingness to travel as needed up to 40%.
