The Project Delivery department is accountable for the success of projects once they achieve a Financial Investment Decision (FID) until hand over to the Operations team. The current construction portfolio spans seven projects in three countries, with a a CapEx spend of approx. €1Billion, and a combined capacity of almost 1GW. Vattenfall has an ambition to commission 3.5GW by 2025, as such there are more projects moving through the development pipeline, therefore the size of the portfolio will vary over time.
We are now looking for The Head of Construction Management to join us in this growth journey who will report to the Director of Project Delivery in BU Onshore.
On a strategic level, you will be a member of the Project Delivery Management Team, alongside the Director of Project Delivery, the Portfolio Director, Head of Construction Design and the Head of Project Support to help steer the department and to take the lead on wider initiatives from time to time. Your experience and knowledge within the business will see you taking an active position in supporting the Portfolio Director in ensuring successful delivery of our projects, including joining reporting sessions and Steering Groups.
In addition, you will support the Construction Managers working in the pre-Construction phase of the project, to ensure that projects are ready to be delivered once an investment decision is taken.
As an N3 Manager takes responsibility for line management duties of all members of the Construction Management sub-team. The team contains Project managers and Package Managers. You will also be responsible for providing resources (both internal and external) into projects as requested by the Portfolio Director or other areas of the value chain
Your leadership skills will see you developing people in the team, ensuring they feel empowered and comfortable to deliver on projects, with the ambition that all members of the team feel inspired, motivated and engaged to achieve our purpose. This includes identifying and following up on individuals training and development needs.
You will also be responsible for the following:
Develop and Improve processes required by personnel within the sub-team, to ensure they are optimised to facilitate successful delivery of our projects
Provide information to assist the Director of Project Delivery with input for Quarterly Reviews with the Vice President of BU Onshore, and the Senior Vice President of BA Wind
Contributes to the annual Project Delivery target setting and follow up, which in turn contributes to the overall BU Targets
Qualifications
Professional and personal characteristics
You have a thorough understanding and extensive experience of working in large/complex projects or teams, ideally wind farm related matters- at least 10 years. We also require that you have at least 5+ years’ experience managing multi-national teams, with the flexibility to manage regular travel around Vattenfall’s geographical markets You are able to handle internal and external interfaces and stakeholders effectively through delegation, follow up and trust. Your possess strong communication skills in English, both verbally and in written.
Within Project Delivery we are looking for honest and open individuals with a positive mindset who are able to work in a team and build strong relationships. Furthermore, we hope to find someone who is proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and learning for our organisation.
