What’s in it for you
The Head of Data Governance will initially have the focus and overall responsibility for shaping our future data stewardship network. You will get the opportunity to grow a team of specialists, providing product teams and business areas with best-in-class services through a federated operating model.

Taking on the role as a change leader at all levels of the company and being comfortable in dealing with ambiguity in a high-paced, global environment will be crucial. Your leadership and communication skills will be put to the test as you embark on establishing a high performing team, built around collaboration and trust.
This position will report to the Head of Information Management & Insights and is located in Volvo Cars offices in Gothenburg, Sweden.
What you will do
You will facilitate and maintain the overall roadmap and strategy for establishing data stewardship through a modern approach, leveraging technology innovations, and embracing industry trends. As part of launching Volvo Cars data mesh, you will be responsible for setting-up data literacy programs and company-wide stewardship and quality services.
Building a home for experts and fostering the team’s skills and expertise will be an important part of your agenda, as will the establishment of a company-wide governance council to facilitate executive decision making around trusted data. This will also require that you act as the liaison, coordinating cross-functional data governance efforts across legal, IT and business organizations.
You and your skills
We believe you have a demonstrated ability to drive transformation on an enterprise level in a large organization where experience gained in a technology companies will be highly desired. We believe you have a natural sense for building relationships and able to build formal and informal networks. You are a collaborator but are also able to drive and deliver in a self-mannered way. You are visionary with ability to inspire and influence others. You are actively embracing the leadership role and an agile mindset.
You have strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills, knows how to influence, and organize people and activities into an efficient workflow. You clear thinker who anticipates and develops strategies for anticipated future consequences and trends. You have developed skills and experience for efficient facilitation in different formats and scenarios. You also have 10+ years of experience within data management/governance with a proven track-record of turning strategy into action. Experienced leader with the ability to build an effective and motivated team. Experience with working with agile methodologies such as SAFe, Scrum or Kanban.
