Who are we?
Volvo Energy is our newest business area with the overarching purpose of supporting the Volvo Group's transformation ambitions within electrification, sustainability, circularity, complete service offer, profitable growth and resilience.
The Volvo Energy Digital & IT proactively seizes new digitalization opportunities in the Energy ecosystem, enabling Volvo Group’s sustainability ambitions and electrification transformation. We are a new unit, pragmatic and easy to do business with, and a fun place to work. Our purpose is to support the electrified first-life sale and monetize battery second life to support Volvo Group’s sustainability ambitions.

What will you be doing?

Additionally, you will constantly seek for businesses efficiencies to decrease the CO2 footprint for the entire Volvo Group as well as our partners and customers. The result of your collaboration will drive economically viable circularity and take us to a sustainable future.

So what are we looking for in this specific role?
As Head of Data, you will be a member of the Management Team of the function and report to the Head of Digital and IT. You will establish a data strategy and roadmap to enable Volvo Energy's business priorities. Here you will drive us into a data-driven culture delivering high-quality data products that generate tangible value through discoverability, accessibility, availability, security, and high quality.
You will have the responsibility to drive the end-to-end implementation of advanced analytics (AI/ML) capabilities and algorithms to optimize batteries lifecycle, charging and logistics operation. You will also leverage the Group assets and establish close collaboration with Group Digital & IT and VGCS.

Additional responsibilities are:
Implement continuous data quality improvement across Volvo Energy.
Secure Volvo Energy data are fully documented and classified.
Manage the Volvo Energy data model.
Ensuring ethics in the use of data, as well as compliance to high security, and data protection standards.
Responsible for preparing for the Data Governance Committee.
Build and develop the data talent pool in science, analysis, architecture, and engineering.
Responsible for managing data and master data for Battery; Charging and Infrastructure; Sales & Services; Optimization; Industrialization and Logistics.


As we are a global company, the location for this position is flexible in Greensboro - US, Gothenburg - Sweden, Lyon - France or Bangalore - India.

Mindset and qualifications likely required to be successful

Preferred qualifications:
Master's Degree, PhD or other relevant backgrounds in the ML and Data Science discipline have given you an excellent foundation for development within this area.
2-4 years of hands-on experience developing or deploying advanced analytics or machine learning solutions.
Experience or interest in battery cells and battery systems and how to apply AI/ML methods to this domain is a plus.
Excellent knowledge in leveraging data for business transformation needs and leveraging intrapreneurial skills in large, cross-functional organizations.
Proven track record on leveraging data to create business value in battery & charging ecosystems.
Fluent in English, written and spoken.
