Summary

For that, we need a leader for leaders who knows what it takes to work as a designer. Someone to drive excellence and to challenge the status quo.
The purpose of the Design Competence at Klarna
The Design Competence ensures Klarna’s products serve customer needs in easy-to-use, enjoyable, and innovative ways. Our competence is dedicated to enhancing and redefining the world’s smooothest shopping experience – constantly raising the bar on delightful and intuitive product experiences. We do this through rigorous user research, championing the craft and execution of our products, developing design systems and tooling, and curating Klarna’s voice.
As Head of Design Operations, you will be responsible for developing the programs that enable operational excellence and organizational growth, leading a team to drive the Design Competence culture and amplifying design throughout Klarna. This role is a key member of the Design leadership team, partnering closely with the leaders of Product Design, UX Research, and UX Writing.
High level responsibilities
Lead team that defines, drives, and maintains systems and processes that support Product Designers, UX Researchers, and UX Writers at Klarna
Partner with Design leadership to create strategic initiatives that shape the future direction of the design organization
Identify needs within the organization in regards to processes, tools, documentation, and guidelines, to enable operational excellence and great design work
Hire, mentor, and lead the Design Operations team with a focus on scaling and delivering high-quality results that benefit Product Designers, UX Researchers, and UX Writers
Lead team to develop and implement effective onboarding and training programs for new hires in Design organization
Lead team to develop and implement tooling strategy for Design organization, including vendor selection, procurement, legal review, and finance management
Own and manage budget for Design team
Develop and lead communications and information-sharing plans for Design. Own key meetings and touchpoints such as monthly All-Hands and tactical leadership meetings
Lead team to craft events and other culture-building and training initiatives for Design
Qualifications
Experience in a Head of Design Operations, Head of Program Management or similar role in a large-scale organization
Experience building, leading and developing broad programs within a fast-growing technology organization
Experience and understanding of product development process and role that Design, Research, and Writing play in delivering great products
Experience developing or refining design processes in partnership with other functions such as Legal, Finance, Marketing, and Engineering
Experience developing strategic initiatives, opportunity analysis, and negotiating business trade-offs
Experience leading a team to deliver high-quality results in a rapidly-changing space
Excellent written, verbal, and storytelling skills in English
