Head of Development to the Tenure Facility
Overview of the position
The Head of Development reports to the Executive Director and is part of the senior leadership of the Tenure Facility. The Head of Development will be responsible for all fundraising and development activities, working closely with the Management Team and the Board of Directors to build Tenure Facility’s visibility, financial resources and donor relationships. In addition, the Head of Development will work closely with the Strategic Communications and Outreach to ensure Tenure Facility’s messaging positions it as a global financial mechanism, influences donors’ policies and longterm support to IPLC. The Head of Development must be well-versed in donor alliance building, well organized and able to meet multiple demands from diverse audiences, with a deep understanding on various funding sources.
Overarching responsibilities
· Develop and execute the Tenure Facility’s annual and multi-year fundraising goals, strategy and plans, working closely with the Executive Director, Management Team and Board members
· Adopt and lead proactive alliance building activities with top donors in the climate finance architecture.
· Develop a deck and track trends for a range current and future donors, including but not limited to bilateral and multilateral agencies, corporate and individual philanthropists and foundations
· Develop, nurture and maintain ongoing relationships with existing and potential donors, bridging them with IPLCs and key influential partners – keeping record of interactions for follow up actions.
· Curate events and actively plan for webinars, engagements, ensure special donor updates apart from regular reporting, including finding and/or supporting the Executive Director appearances in strategic donor events/engagements, and/or in initiating these events/engagements
· Oversee research of funding sources and trends, to help position Tenure Facility ahead of major funding changes or trends
· Co-create Tenure Facility’s communications as a financial mechanism, to a reach range of stakeholders (donors, IPLCs, CSO & partners, governments, private sector etc.) with the Communications Team, and provide oversight and guidance on execution of communications

Qualifications
A natural leader in the field of institutional development and financing, experienced in working deeply with a valuable network of donors, partners and allies in the field of human rights, environment, social, governance, with the following qualities:
· At least 10 years' experience in institutional development, philantrophy and fundraising and/or is part of building or growing a successful institution
· Minimum of 8 years in a management position within an international organisation
· A facilitator, a ‘bridge-builder’, with experience in working with a diverse group of people such as thought leaders, activists, governments, impacts investors, donors, innovators and thrives in networking with them
· Versatile and works well with visionaries and who are relentless in pursuing their vision
· Direct experience and exposure in fundraising for international NGOs, Indigenous Peoples and local communities (IPLC), working with them in programs and projects aiming for big funding
· Direct experience investing and financial planning and implementation for scale
· Additional qualities include among others, having worked in the field with IP and LC, a good communicator, a team player, multilingual (French, Spanish etc)
Terms of employment
The Tenure Facility is an international organization with a secretariat based in Stockholm, Sweden. The position refers to full-time permanent positions with six months’ probation period. Starting date as agreed. Salary by agreement.
