We are looking for a Head of EPS! R&D is growing fast so it will require some hands-on work in making the job done together with shaping and growing the Electric Propulsion System department.
Let us describe the challenge we offer
We are looking for an experienced leader to head the Electronic Propulsion System (EPS) department within Polestar R&D. EPS is growing fast and we need an innovative and fearless leader to help the department to reach the stars.
The EPS department consists of several areas within R&D.
This position is located at our HQ, in Gothenburg. We understand that work-life balance isn’t easy, and of course, welcome our employees to work flexible hours and from home a couple of days per week if needed. We believe in empowerment.
What you'll do
The Head of EPS will report to CTO of Polestar and will be a member of the R&D steering group.
Areas of responsibility:
- Battery pack design, Battery Management System design & application software
- Contribution to a centralized Electronic System Architecture regarding integration of the Propulsion System
- Battery cooling system
- E-Motor design & development
- HV Electronic design & development / DCDC / OBC / Inverter

Who you are
We are looking for a leader with flexible mindset which is perfectly matched with your approach of planning in a structured, methodological, and analytical manner. Along with your can-do attitude, we believe you to have experience from working in an international environment. In this role you will develop people, technology and generate ideas based on your experience and innovative mind to make sure EPS is ahead of its game. Also, to be successful in this role you need to be strong in leadership, demonstrated through experience guiding teams and developing complete solutions from technological concepts to implementation in production cars. You have a forward-thinking personality with a portfolio of next generation and long-term strategic ideas & concepts.
R&D is growing fast so it will require some hands-on work in making the job done together with shaping and growing the Electric Propulsion System department.
We also see that you have:
- At least 10 years of experience leading a R&D teams on a director level in an international and cross functional environment
- A very good understanding and knowledge of R&D, engineering, project and process work among others
- Solid working experience from the automotive industry
- A degree from a technical university or equivalent
- A creative mind with the ability to implement processes, artefacts & routines, focused on key objectives
- A leader who focuses on aligning the right processes and technologies to a high performing R&D team
