Nasdaq Stockholm has recently developed into the most active marketplace for listings in Europe. Nasdaq’s legal and regulatory group, and in particular the issuer surveillance team is instrumental in accomplishing the strong position of Nasdaq Nordic’s listing franchise. The issuer surveillance team is responsible for initial listing reviews and admission as well as continued listing surveillance for listed companies and other issuers of financial instruments. This includes responsibility for the formal listing processes for financial instruments, including equities, bonds, warrants, and exchange-traded funds as well as handling corporate actions. Issuer surveillance also supervises issuers’ compliance with the disclosure rules of the exchanges to ensure transparent, consistent, and fair markets. The goal of the Nasdaq’s European Surveillance function is to uphold investor protection and market integrity. The Surveillance function is instrumental in ensuring that the markets operated by Nasdaq Nordic are fair, orderly, safe, efficient, and thereby attractive to investors.


Expectations of the role


In this executive role, you will be responsible for Nasdaq’s surveillance function for the exchanges in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Norway. The overarching mission of the surveillance function is to safeguard the integrity of Nasdaq’s Nordic marketplaces. Safeguarding the integrity of our markets is a regulatory requirement for Nasdaq, as well as a necessity to ensure fair and efficient trading, protect the values of our assets and support our business model. The surveillance function is an independent unit within the Nasdaq organization. Therefore, important decisions and processes have been ringing fenced to safeguard integrity.
You will also be providing leadership and overall direction through the development of a long-term vision and strategy for the department. Further, you will identify and communicate strategic opportunities, assess the level of change, and develop change strategies to support the transition. As Nasdaq is operating on a global level you have to have a broad perspective and will be expected to use regional trends and successes, adapting these to our Surveillance operations to drive global growth or profitability and hold ultimate accountability towards the Boards and CEO:s at the regulated entities as well as to multiple key functions, divisions, regions or functions. The work will have a direct impact on the success and performance of Nasdaq!


As Nasdaq develops surveillance technology you will also work on developing the technology and innovate both the products and the way we conduct surveillance. This will include interaction with clients and other stakeholders to present and advocate the work within Surveillance.


Responsibilities


Leads all aspects of issuer surveillance for all products; equities, derivatives, fixed income, and other asset classes in all Nordic countries.
Provides mentorship and expertise and makes decisions/recommendations in trading and listing, e.g. trade halts and suspensions.
Interprets referrals regarding suspected market abuse and disciplinary matters, settling an accurate course of action.
Develops Nasdaq tools, regulations, and standards, ensuring alignment with strategy. Strategizes and leads product development and other business unit initiatives.
Leads quality assurance methods for our operations.
Leads initiatives that form market practice for very meaningful processes for exchange trading in the company, ensuring business improvement and alignment with strategy.
Supervises the evaluation of markets to detect anomalies, review electronically generated alerts, and address market participant inquiries.
Supervises the use of techniques to keep the markets fair, orderly, and efficient through the implementation of a comprehensive web of regulatory surveillance scrutiny and action.


Education, Professional Accomplishments and Certifications


Education Required: Master of Laws
Experience Required: At least 10-15 years

Fluency in Swedish is a requirement for this position.
