At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional hybrid-electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers, an electric zero-emission range of 200 km and an extended hybrid range of 400 km. Heart is targeting type certification of the ES-30 by the end of the decade.
Your mission
The Head of Flight Sciences has broad responsibility for the design and analysis of the aerodynamic and performance aspects of the aircraft. You will lead and manage a multi-functional team, covering Performance, Stability & Control, Loads & Dynamics, Noise, Aerodynamics & Thermodynamics, and Weight & Balance.
You will have responsibility for developing the Flight Sciences team, including employee development, training, and mentoring, along with building the team through hiring. You will set goals and objectives for your team, monitor team progress, and establish priorities aligned with company/program strategic planning.
You will be responsible for ensuring your team’s on-going technical coordination throughout the product development lifecycle with key stakeholders. You will also represent the flight sciences department at program/technical reviews as well as coordination with customer, suppliers and regulatory authorities, ensuring the engineering definition meets all stakeholder requirements. You will also ensure adherence to all engineering processes/standards, and participate in design reviews to meet certification, cost, schedule, and manufacturability goals.
You will report to the Chief Technology Officer and your place of work will be at our main office located in Gothenburg, Sweden.
- A dynamic leader with a compliance mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and collaborative mindset to work with cross-functional teams.
- Minimum 10 years experience in a relevant engineering discipline, within an aerospace OEM company environment, including the conceptual and preliminary design phases.
- Experience with aircraft development programs through the entire design, development & certification lifecycle (EASA/FAA Part 23 or 25).
- Experience working in an EASA Part 21J Design Organization, or international equivalent.
- Direct experience in a leadership role within one of the flight science disciplines, and a broad knowledge of all flight sciences disciplines.
- Experience working in an aerospace start-up environment is a merit.
- Significant aircraft conceptual and preliminary design experience on a CS-25 or regional aircraft program at a leading OEM or start-up is a merit.
- Proficiency coordinating activities of engineers in partner supplier companies is a merit.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English.
- Eagerness to work with others.
- Passion for aircraft and electrification of the aviation industry.
Education
- Graduate degree in aerospace, aeronautical, or similar discipline, or equivalent experience.
