At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers driven by electric motors with battery derived energy. The ES-30 is expected to enter into service in 2028.
Your mission
As the Head of Flight Test, your mission is to oversee and manage the flight test capabilities of the company, ensuring the safe and successful execution of flight test campaigns for company aircraft. You will provide strategic direction, ensure resources are available, and maintain compliance with safety standards and procedures. The Head of Flight Test has broad responsibility for the flight test capabilities of the company, including instrumentation engineering, flight test engineering, and flight operations. You will be responsible for the delivery of the flight test campaign for the company aircraft.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing direction, supervision, and strategic planning of all flight test activities.
- Ensuring flight test resources are available to conduct testing.
- Compliance with HA SMS and adherence to flight test safety processes and procedures.
- Ensuring SQEP resource available for the planned activity.
- Flight Test Operations Manual development and issue iaw EASA Part 21J.
- Chairing Flight Test Readiness and Flight Test Safety Review Board meetings.
- Approving test orders and flight test activities.
- Appointment of SQEP post holders and key staff.
- Leading and maintaining satisfactory standards and discipline within the department, defining appropriate remedial action as required.
- Recruit, lead and manage the Flight test team.
You will report to the Head of Design Organisation and your current place of work will be at our main office located in Gothenburg, Sweden. In the future, your place of work will be at our production and test flight center.
- A dynamic leader with strong interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset to lead cross-functional teams.
- Experience working in a flight test leadership role within an aerospace OEM company environment or similar.
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in developmental or experimental flight test programmes.
- Strong knowledge of Part 25 certification programs in design, development & certification lifecycle.
- Experience working in an EASA Part 21J Design Organization, or international equivalent.
- Working knowledge of systems engineering principles for safety critical systems (SAE ARP 4754/4761).
- Experience working in a start-up environment is a merit.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English.
- Eagerness to work with others.
- Passion for aircraft and electrification of the aviation industry.
Education
- Graduate degree in Aerospace, aeronautical discipline, or equivalent experience. Post graduate degree would be a merit.
- A Pilot or FTE long course graduate of an EASA approved test pilot school.
