At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers driven by electric motors with battery derived energy. The ES-30 is expected to enter into service in 2028.
Your mission
As the Head of Flight Test Instrumentation (FTI) & Test Coordination, your mission is to ensure the successful instrumentation and testing of the aircraft, overseeing the FTI team, managing resources, and providing technical expertise to advance the electrification of the aviation industry.
You will have the responsibility for all FTI engineering capabilities and the coordination of test activities with the Program Management Office (PMO).
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Recruit, build and lead the FTI team.
- Coach, mentor and provide technical training to team members, as necessary.
- Establish schedules and budgets for FTI and special equipment.
- Plan all activities for the instrumentation of the prototype aircraft with telemetry capability.
- Manage FTI and special equipment suppliers.
- Oversee FTI and special equipment requirement definition, system design, bench test, equipment integration and commissioning.
- Develop process and procedures for FTI configuration control and calibration.
- Develop and maintain tools for data management, display and analysis.
- Provide technical guidance and be the focal point for all FTI related matters.
- Manage the daily operations of the flight test instrumentation section.
- Plan and coordinate with the PMO, design and engineering departments to assure that the flight test needs are captured and scheduled in accordance with company's deadlines.
- Coordinate with the manufacturing team that all FTI installation and integration is in line with company deadlines to ensure that adequate and appropriate instrumentation and special flight test equipment solutions are available for the test flight campaign.
You will report to the Head of Flight Test and your current place of work will be at our main office located in Gothenburg, Sweden. In the future, your place of work will be at our production and test flight center.
- People leader with a compliance mindset, strong interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset to work with cross-functional teams
- Experience working in a flight test leadership role within an aerospace OEM company environment or similar.
- Minimum 10 years experience in FTI engineering within an aerospace environment.
- Expert knowledge of sensors, data acquisition, recording and telemetry systems.
- Direct experience with early-stage formation of a complete FTI solution.
- Knowledge of airborne systems engineering for safety critical systems (SAE ARP 4754/4761).
- Experience with aircraft certification programs through the entire design, development & certification lifecycle (EASA/FAA Part 23 or 25).
- Experience working in an EASA Part 21J (or equivalent) Design Organization.
- Experience working in a start-up environment is a merit.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English.
- Eagerness to work with others.
- Passion for aircraft and electrification of the aviation industry.
Education
- Graduate degree in Aerospace, aeronautical discipline, or equivalent experience. Post graduate degree would be a merit.
