Powertrain & Fossil-free Material Purchasing is a global organization within Volvo Group Purchasing representing a yearly purchased spend of 36 BSEK.
The team is responsible for Base Engine, Casting & Forging, Metal, Combustion, Vendor, Axles & Transmission and Fossil-free Materials
Powertrain & Fossil-free Material Purchasing being the Strategic steering line for all Purchasing activities within Volvo Group Purchasing, we organize a strong collaboration within powertrain & Fossil-free Material teams spread across different sites/regions, and we are also the operational line responsible for powertrain & Fossil-free Material Purchasing business all along the Purchasing process (sourcing/projects/operations/revenue service parts). Powertrain & Fossil-free Material Purchasing team is responsible to drive end to end Purchasing activities whilst securing QDCF-TSR (Quality, Delivery, Cost, Feature, Technology, Sustainability and Risk Management) targets.


Mission
As Head of Fossil Free Materials Purchasing, you drive and manage the performance of your department from a QDCF-TSR standpoint. You lead a team of Purchasing Professionals in your area of scope, manage supplier relationship, cross functional collaboration, contribute to supplier negotiation & global segment strategies. You also promote a strong collaboration between Buyers and Managers within Volvo Group Purchasing and Volvo Group globally thereby capitalizing on regional inputs towards segment strategies, negotiation tactics and other possible opportunities

Reporting To: Head of Powertrain and Fossil Free materials Purchasing


Location: Gothenburg or Lyon

Main Responsibilities
Be a member in Powertrain Purchasing Management team and in an active way contribute to the development of the department
Develop for the whole Volvo Group a deep understanding of the Raw Material market drivers, cost structure, industry trends and competitive landscape
Take an active role in developing, articulating, executing long-term Raw Material strategy and develop a supply base that fits Volvo Group’s need in terms of quality, reliability, competitiveness, and sustainability values
Drive department activities towards wanted position
Focus on raw material suppliers for Flat Steel, Scrap & Alloys, Aluminium, Forging steel, Plastics, Resins, Rubber, PGM with potential to expand to other materials
Increase transparency and Supplier Tier N management
Oversee capacity constraints of selected suppliers and ensure business requirements are met regularly to keep a continuous and risk-free supply
Secure cost targets, KPI fulfillment and QDCF- TSR deliverables
Be responsible for operating expenses
Sign off Purchasing Agreements in accordance with the authorization directives
Increase focus on circularity for Raw Materials, with specific focus on Fossil-free materials & partnerships to enable accelerated contribution to Net Zero ambition by 2040
Manage cross functional interactions with your internal stakeholders and ensure all the relevant data is ready to be presented in Sourcing Governance.
Create a dedicated team and manage its development along with the scope
Work in accordance with the Volvo processes, the Code of Conduct and the Volvo Values

Competence & Experience
University degree in Engineering/technology and/or Business Administration
Strong Leadership skills
Proven business mindset, ideally with experience in Raw material Direct buy
Knowledgeable in current and future business trends, technology and markets
Able to execute in a global, matrix organization
Face problems and act quickly and directly. Provide direct & actionable feedback
Able to handle ambiguity’s and hold things together during tough times
Take good decisions in line with internal stakeholders, with risks and opportunities and alternative solutions in mind
Able to manage diversity and offer opportunities for personal/professional development
Able to build an effective team with a common objective and strong morale and spirit

Authorities
Represent his/her Purchasing area in cross-functional decision bodies
Validates sourcing cases to be presented to the sourcing decision body
