About Business Area Global Communications Platform (BGCP) and GNP
Since closing the acquisition in July 2022, Vonage has in Ericsson operated under the name of Business Area Global Communications Platform (BGCP).
In parallel, Ericsson has accelerated the ambition to provide advanced 5G Network Capabilities to enterprises and developers as programmable APIs, by internal incubation of an advanced network API platform for 5G API exposure, and by using Vonage’s market position for current APIs (SMS, voice and video). This effort to build programmable APIs has until now been driven through the Global Network Platform (GNP) program.
The key objectives of the GNP program are:
Strengthen Vonage Business: direct termination agreements, UCaaS/CCaaS resell through CSPs
Deliver “fast track APIs”: new APIs exposed from current networks & demanded by enterprises (for example Authentication, Location and QoS) and CPaaS resell through CSPs.
Deliver new advanced 5G APIs: new APIs enabling new use cases, monetization of 5G at scale, and a create pull for Ericsson’s Radio & Core NW portfolio.
The program has now matured, and to further accelerate the execution of these objectives, two new line units are created in BGCP:
GNP Product and Engineering: Product owner of the needed capabilities beyond current Vonage offering
GNP Go To Market: to promote and sell the capabilities to CSP (and ultimately ASP)
We are now looking for accomplished leaders for the GNP Product and Engineering unit.
About this role
Reporting to the Head of GNP Product and Engineering, the Head of GNP Engineering Unit will lead a team of highly competent and engaged people with clearly defined responsibility for product development, modules and customer deliveries for our key GNP software products, including API aggregation and integration towards Ericsson and Vonage products as well as customer networks.
To create impact as our Head of GNP Engineering you will:
As a member of the GNP Product and Engineering global leadership team, define and execute on the global strategy, priorities and transformation
Lead a team of highly skilled, motivated and a diverse group of people, building a world-class R&D team excelling in efficient ways of working, innovation and developer experience
Drive e2e development flow, test and engineering environment for products in scope
Work in collaboration with GNP Product Management and GNP go to market and other Ericsson and Vonage units
Represent GNP Product and Engineering in customer and supplier interactions, including building and, when required, repairing relationships.
