About the role
As the Head of Group Accounting Policies you will own Nordea’s accounting policies, which entails a responsibility to develop and maintain the Nordea group’s accounting policies in compliance with IFRS and other relevant regulations. You will provide expert guidance on complex accounting matters and ensure that these policies are effectively implemented throughout the organisation. This role involves close collaboration with finance teams across the group, senior management, and external auditors.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing, updating, and implementing group-wide accounting policies in accordance with IFRS
* Advising on the application of accounting policies to complex transactions and business developments
* Ensuring consistent interpretation and application of accounting standards across the Nordea group
* Acting as a key point of contact for technical accounting guidance, providing support to local finance teams
* Collaborating with external auditors on key policy areas and complex reporting issues
* Monitoring changes in accounting standards and ensuring timely updates to the Nordea group’s accounting manual
* Leading training sessions to educate finance teams on accounting standards and new policies
The role is based in Denmark, Finland, Norway or Sweden.
Who you are
To thrive in this role we believe that you have:
* A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
* Extensive experience (8+ years) in technical accounting roles, with deep knowledge of IFRS within the accounting for financial instruments
* Experience from a global or multinational company, ideally in a similar role within the banking industry, and/or within audit
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex accounting issues and provide clear guidance
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
* High attention to detail and a structured approach to problem-solving
