What’s in it for you?
The function of Transport Optimization is responsible to ensure that all our transports, whether they may be via road or deep sea are fully optimized along with ensuring our transport network is correctly planned and balanced. You are working on the short to mid-term horizon with long term planning handled by the Inbound Engineering organization with whom you will have a very close working relationship supporting to steer our long-term strategic direction for Inbound Logistics. 
You are responsible to secure that our transport networks are run in the most cost and environmentally efficient manner and that incoming material is evening spread across the shifts of the receiving plants. You do this by balancing delivery windows, working with collection and delivery frequency and ensuring our transit times are aligned amongst other items. You also work closely with our Inbound Engineering team that are responsible for Network Design as well as colleagues in Logistics Purchasing to ensure that current state and your knowledge are factored into all future solutions of which you are expected to be a key stakeholder in developing and implementing. 
You will lead a highly skilled team with many different competencies and with a high level of energy to work with continuous improvement. What you´ll do.
Reporting to Head of Inbound & Packaging EMEA you will be responsible for a department of 14 including three team leaders. You will own your business area as described above and ensure that you create a positive working environment with a high performing team that has a huge influence on our financial, environmental, and operational performance. 
•    Follow up on and define KPI’s to help you guide your business area forward
•    Challenge the status quo and not be afraid to take bold steps to support our journey towards best in class  
•    Lead performance review meetings within functional area of responsibility to ensure we are meeting our ambitious targets
•    Regularly interact with stakeholders (internal customers) within Volvo Cars to work on continuous improvement activities 
•    Design and implement processes to secure efficiency in daily operations 
•    Act as part of Inbound EMEA Management Team and contribute to the development of the wider Inbound EMEA Organization
•    Take responsibility for Inbound meetings with assigned plants. 
•    Drive the digitalization journey for your area 
•    Own Inbound Master data to ensure all prerequisites are met and that errors are rectified 
•    Other tasks as assigned as part of Inbound EMEA Management team. 
Do you fit the profile?
We are looking to strengthen the team by bringing in a leader with strong industry knowledge, the ability to analyze data presented and turn that into sound commercial recommendations and last but by no means least, first class leadership skills. You see yourself as someone who can handle complexity yet create clarity. 
You ideally have strong Road and Ocean freight experience either working in-house at an OEM or Tier supplier or alternatively at a Freight Forwarder or Logistics Company. 

In addition, you have good knowledge of market rates for European and Intercontinental transportation and have demonstrated ability in closing commercial dialogues. Lastly you must have the right to work within Sweden as we cannot sponsor applicants for this position. We can however offer relocation support for the right candidate if you are not located in Sweden today.
