We are implementing a Core-Hub-Spoke operating model as a part of the roll out of our new Volvo Cars Data Strategy. This role leads a key Hub at Volvo Cars, working closely with the Core team to collectively drive the adoption of the new Volvo Cars Data Strategy across the business. The Manufacturing Data and Analytics Hub is responsible for the development and management of Data Products and Analytics Products for the Manufacturing function which enable greater efficiency and better decision-making across Manufacturing.
What's in it for you?
The principal aim of the role is to lead the delivery of value from data for the Manufacturing function, including the data strategy and roadmap, data products, analytics products, data governance, and data and analytics training needs.
You will be responsible for building the Manufacturing data and analytics strategy aligned to the Volvo Cars data strategy, driving the desired data transformation within Manufacturing including facilitating the training and upskilling of colleagues. You will also be responsible for the build and management of Manufacturing Data Products and Analytics Products, including the product roadmaps, and the appropriate staffing of the relevant technical resources to build and manage the products required to support Manufacturing and Volvo Cars requirements.
You also have responsibility for the implementation of the Volvo Cars Data Governance framework within Manufacturing, including data risk management, data quality, and data cataloguing. You should bring significant experience leading data and analytics functions, ideally in the context of Manufacturing teams and be able to lead and inspire confidence both within the team and across the wider Manufacturing function.
What you’ll do
• Develop and own the Manufacturing Data and Analytics Strategy, including the associated product roadmap and operating model.
• Build and manage Manufacturing Data Products for Volvo Cars, aligned to the data and analytics product development process.
• Build and manage Manufacturing Analytics Products for Volvo Cars, aligned to the data and analytics product development process.
• Ensure alignment of Strategic Data and Reporting Products to data governance policies and standards
• Lead and inspire a large team of technical data professionals, including product owners, data engineers, software engineers, and business/BI analysts.
• Manage the operations of the team, including resourcing strategy and vendor management.
Who you are
You are an experienced (8/10+ years) data and analytics leader with experience managing multiple managers/teams. You have experience with the data and analytics needs of Manufacturing teams, either through building data and analytics products for Manufacturing teams and/or working in a Manufacturing function.
You have a deep understanding of how to build and run data and analytics products, with a proven track record of success. Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences. Broad technical breadth including familiarity with data platform services. Grow, inspire, and encourage a team of data and analytics professionals, encouraging talent and creativity whilst remaining focused on delivering business value. You have a way with numbers, as well as a strong business sense, and ability to inform strategic business decisions.
You have a validated ability to influence decision-making at all levels within an organization, and in a variety of contexts. You have got a strong intuition based on a broad range of experiences, but you take a critical mind even to your own ideas and are ready to be challenged by colleagues of all levels. You are motivated by a burning desire for excellence but take a pragmatic approach to achieving your goals.
Good to have
Knowledge of / experience with data mesh concepts. Prior experience within an automotive environment. Degree qualified in a relevant subject (or suitable equivalent industry experience). Well established relevant network from which to draw advice, guidance, best practice and industry developments.
