Head of Manufacturing Engineering and Industrialization

Northvolt is continuing to expand into the world of mass manufacturing. As such, we are hiring a Head of Manufacturing Engineering and Industrialization for our Battery Systems Business Unit.
The Head of Manufacturing Engineering and Industrialization will be responsible for leading the company into high volume manufacturing – through the design and industrialization of our product, process, equipment, and factory for our lithium-ion battery systems.
If you are up for the task, you will be responsible for setting the strategy, developing the organization, and realizing the implementation of controls and procedures for developing high quality and efficient factories, production lines, processes, and equipment across all of our products - for both for our current low-volume and planned greenfield high-volume facilities, as well as our prototype laboratories.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with multiple parallel stakeholders, as well as the ability to design, develop, select, justify, acquire, build, install, and qualify new production equipment and processes. The right candidate has a background in building and launching new production lines alongside new products, and if you have done so for electronics, medical, or battery manufacturing this will only help you along the journey. You should know the vendors of machinery, factory equipment and automation systems from previous engagements, and be excited to hit the ground running on the development of our next generation products, processes, equipment, and factories!
You will be responsible for more than doubling the size of our dependable team, while creating an organization that is capable of scaling Northvolt’s battery operations in Sweden and beyond.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to)
· Plan, organize, direct and conduct industrialization related activities
· Oversee the building of a large-scale battery factory
· Develop, manage, audit, improve and correct integration partners
· Suggest and lead improvements in scalability, cost, and quality
· Facilitate communication and clarification of technical requirements between suppliers and Northvolt´s internal stakeholders
Requirements
· Master degree or equivalent experience in Electrical/Mechanical /Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering
· 15 years of manufacturing experience in a high volume, highly automated advanced manufacturing facility
· Documented experience from taking a large scale factory from planning to production
· Demonstrated knowledge of operational excellence and continuous improvement practices and a working knowledge of the application of information technology to support process development
· Understand the cost of ownership for various lithium-ion systems processes/materials with a proven record of effective cost reduction.
· Successful track record of scaling industrialization in a fast-growing environment
· Strong technical writing ability and aptitude for explaining complex issues in a concise and plain manner
· Must have worked in a multi-cultural environment
· A plus if you have experience in lithium-ion battery technology
