Arbetsbeskrivning
Sandvik Machining Solutions is a business area segment within Sandvik Manufacturing and Machining Solutions – an industrial market leader within metal cutting, with 17 000 employees and a revenue of 32 billion SEK. We’re passionate about development and advanced technology, and our ambitions for the coming years are higher than ever as we’re setting out on a bold growth track – half of it to be contributed by a strong and successful Mergers & Acquisition (M&A) agenda. In light of this, we’re looking for a resourceful, networking and dynamic doer with a confident mind to take on the exciting position as Head of M&A.
You’ll be joining a place of innovation, agility and inclusive collaboration. A place where new technology and digitalization meet the core of manufacturing, and where we nurture an ever-growing portfolio of products and solutions based on the needs of the market and our customers. And your role? Well, it’s key in driving the profitable growth that is central to our business!
About the job
As Head of M&A, you lead the definition and execution of our M&A growth strategy and agenda together with our executive team. You also work closely with your M&A team to ensure success throughout the entire M&A process - from scouting, acquisition case development, contacting, valuation, due diligence and negotiation, to deal closing and follow up - and you put the spotlight on value creation, synergies, and operating performance. By further developing our overall M&A strategy and streamlined acquisition processes, you make sure that we’re well equipped to keep the pace and to capture opportunities in a changing business landscape. In addition, you serve as a leading expert on financial modeling, transaction accounting, deal structuring and valuation.
Actively collaborating with our executive management and with functional experts, deal teams, advisors and other key stakeholders, you ensure an effective and speedy approach for each project - including oversight of workstreams and tasks - to achieve the best results. You also partner up with our divisions and the newly formed Business Area Segment of Sandvik Manufacturing Solutions to share best practices and capitalize on synergies.
You report to the Vice President and Head of Strategy & Business Development and the location is flexible between our European Sandvik sites. International travel is normally included in your job, and you need to spend a substantial amount of time in Sweden where your M&A team is mainly located.
About you
We’re looking for someone with drive and initiative, a pragmatic business approach and broad experience from working in roles closely related to M&A and growth. You have successfully managed the full lifecycle of M&A projects – all the way from prospect to closing – and your previous career includes at least five years within leading investment banking or strategy firms, private equity, the Big 4 or in a top corporate M&A team. Knowledge of the manufacturing industry is of course beneficial. Additionally, you’re used to working in an international, cross-cultural setting, and you comfortably build relations with a large number of internal and external stakeholders. You also have a good track record of leading cross-functional teams in demanding situations, and you know how to work effectively in a matrix organization. We value a relevant degree within Business, Finance or similar, and as we’re a global player, you need excellent written and verbal skills in English.
Your systematic and fact-based approach, high integrity and practical business understanding are vital in this job – and you enjoy acting in a fast-paced environment where you need to prioritize and respond to changing demands from multiple sources. You always stay calm, structured and focused. You’re also very confident and clear as you work with our senior management to direct our M&A agenda by combining business strategy with deal opportunities and solid execution. On top of this, you’re truly team and people oriented, and with your open and agile mindset, you easily shape meaningful collaborations and strong networks that produce results even under time pressure.
