Epidemic Sound’s music is heard in hundreds of millions of online videos daily, across millions of playlist streams, and in thousands of in-store locations. We are looking for a Head of Music Curation to join our Music Curation team. You will play a key strategic role in the alignment between Product, Tech, and Music Curation in terms of balancing the perfect harmony between curation and algorithm.
How you will make an impact
This is a new role in which you will be responsible for the entire Curation ecosystem, and cover the main pillars of a successful Music Curation function:
- Creativity & deep music expertise
- Vast & in-depth catalogue knowledge & storyteller/music trend insights
- Focus on the scalability of curation and relevancy as a music/tech company overtime in the SAAS company setting
The objectives you’ll have on top of mind in this role are:
- Setting a Curation Strategy building on music, catalog, storyteller and editorial content expertise, covering both partners and direct customers
- Aligning with Product/Tech/Analytics to set a common Player Curation Vision & corresponding Performance Metrics, balancing editorial curation & algorithmic personalization and recommendations
- Optimizing the Music Curation function in terms of efficiency and measurability, enabled by e.g. Salesforce and curation tool development
- Leveraging on our vast music expertise covering all storytellers and our in-depth catalog knowledge in the departmental Music Ordering process
More specifically, you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring that Music Curation creates value in everything we do throughout the Music Curation ecosystem
- Being one step ahead in the strategic planning and ensuring that the Music Curation’s plans, recruitment, and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for the future are in line with company-wide strategy and goals, as well as prioritized and clearly labeled out
- Setting up, tracking, and optimizing OKRs across the team to ensure that the company’s strategic goals are met
- Aligning across departments since main stakeholders reside within e.g. Sales, Music and Product/Tech departments, as well as representing Music Curation in the Music Quarterly Forum
- Ensuring that all necessary processes, tools, systems, and infrastructure needs are in place and fit their purpose
Who you are
We believe you are a true music lover and a visionary strategist. You are a natural in terms of inspiring others to deliver their best performances and have a way of doing things that makes your team understand where to go and why. You are used to structuring and organizing processes, and you have in-depth knowledge when it comes to connecting your teams’ actions to the bigger picture; the business, and the scale-up journey we’re on.
To be successful in this role, we believe you must have:
- Deep music expertise from working in the music industry and from keeping up with trends and insights
- Minimum 5 years experience with leading and coaching others, preferably direct reports
- Experience working with a high level of autonomy and at the same time being both a strong team player and leader - Deep understanding of how to adapt different curation offers and features to different customer segments of storytellers
- Strong and proven skills in business development and an analytical mindset
- A proven track record of setting up curation processes or similar in a fast-paced tech company is merit - Experience with productizing editorial content is a merit
- Having worked closely together with Product/Tech/Analytics departments in developing curation tools is a merit
