The European Spallation Source ESS AB in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Head of Quality Division. The Division is organised under the Associate Director for Operations, ES&H and QA.
Description of directorate/division?
During 2012-2013, ESS AB has established the principles for quality management and started the commissioning of the quality management system. The next logical step will be to find the person who will lead the further development of the quality management system for the construction phase and preparing for the operations phase. The position will also include establishing of a Quality Division of approximately 3-4 quality engineers.
Description of main responsibilities
• Represent ESS on all matters of Quality Management, Quality Assurance and Quality Control
• In consultation with ESS management, establish quality-related goals, milestones and directions
• Lead and coordinate the establishment of the Quality Management System
• Advise the organisation in establishing policies, processes, procedures and instructions
• Develop and maintain the Quality System Platform
• Develop and maintain a program for vendor (including In-kind partners) qualification and surveillance with the relevant procedures
• Advise and coordinate the organisation on vendor (including In-kind partners) quality activities
• Participate in vendor (including In-kind partners) audits / assessments
• Provide and coordinate quality assurance training
• Develop and maintain a program for internal Quality System audits
• Develop and maintain a continuous improvement program
• Develop and maintain a system for deviation/non-conformance/ CAPA management
Qualifications
• Have more than 10 years of experience in quality management in an international environment and rapidly changing organisation/company structure
• Are used to working in industries regulated by strict legal requirements, for example nuclear industry, oil & gas or to ESS related research facilities such as accelerators or neutron sources
• Experience from developing and establishing Quality Management Systems
• Have experience from leadership positions
• Have a university degree in science or engineering
Further advantages are:
• Experience from construction and operations phase of process industry or large-scale research facilities such as accelerators
• Experience of working in an international environment is essential
• Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite; knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage

Duration & Location
The position is either permanent with six months initial probationary period, or a medium term secondment, possibly as an in-kind contribution from a collaborating lab. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.
